The swords of Ditto: Mormo's Curse is a fun game to play (ignoring the load screens) but they failed to reach the potential of what could have been a really good game. The grind can be tedious even with the array of weapons and power-ups you can obtain it can still become dull and flat, however still, the colour palette and design style is simply up there with some of the best I have seen in this genre.
The game is good. However, after a while it becomes very very repetitive and easy to beat.
DITTO is a Saturday morning cartoon take on roguelites, but misses the mark. Charming art style, a few clever puzzles, and varied enemy types is squandered by boring combat and exploration.
Visually charming and looks funny to play in coop but, as dungeon-adventure game, I've enjoyed much more games like Gauntlet or Magicka (I can't find games like this on PS4 😒)... anyway I'll keep playing it for a while with my wife.
I like visuals and the toy weapons. I didn't like it the loading time between levels and the implementation of the perma-death (the fact to go every time for the sword).
Got to the true ending boss fight, died, and just put the game down. This game had promises, and there's stuff to like, but a lot of stuff around the edges really bring it down.
It pains me to say this, because I really really love this game, but I can’t recommend it until it receives some much needed patches. This is not a knock against the devs. I know they are working very hard to fix a lot of problems. I’ve sent them a number of error reports myself. That is seldom something I do, but I really want to see this game patched. There are a number of minor bugs that are fairly innocuous but there are three that are big ones: 1) if your game crashes and you restart, you almost always restart with next to no health and zero coins, no matter what you had before the crash. Making matters worse, closing the game properly causes you to restart with zero coins a fraction of the time. This is a big problem, and one you’ll understand if you’re playing the game and have been hoarding coins over multiple generations. 2) if you choose to leave the game on or on suspend mode, it eventually slows down which becomes a significant problem when you take AirKazoo. I won’t go into lengthy details but the game slows to a crawl at that point, …

I won’t go into lengthy details but the game slows to a crawl at that point, fails to render the flying bus and more often than not, crashes. 3) this is the biggest one: each time it crashes there’s a risk that your game save will corrupt. If that happens it’s over unless you have a recent backup. And again, if you’re playing the game you’ll appreciate how losing even a couple hours of progress can be devastating depending what transpired in that time.
Even though these are problems I’ve encountered on PS4 I have read that people playing on PC are, at the very least, suffering the third issue.
I really don’t want to dessuade people from playing this game in the long run. After all I’m still playing Swords of Ditto, trying to work around the issues. But I do want people to know that there are issues that add a wrinkle to an otherwise very enjoyable game.
If patches are released and I notice some of these problems are resolved I’ll post another update.
