As unlikely as Ecuador qualifying for the Japan–Korea 2002 World Cup, it is surprising that a game like Despelote exists and could come from that corner of the world. Yet it does, and it beautifully captures the ordinary life of a Latin American child on the 2000's. The game design is natural and immersive. Its art style is unique and original. It is definitely a must-play for any Latin American gamer who wants to see their everyday culture reflected on a videogame.
The story portraits is so intimate that not everyone will fully grasp its beauty, which is also a shame.
