Ninja Druids

Beat in slow motion mode. This game looked and played older than its release date. Very simple 2D platforming and combat. There were different weapons to find with tradeoff being range vs damage, and each allowed turning into an animal. The starting and longest range was the shuriken, which made the game more like a shooter. It worked very well on the weaker enemies and bosses, but struggled on some tougher foes in awkward positions. It also went through terrain. The animal was a tiger, which improved platforming with better jumps and had decent melee attack. Next was the chain which had a comfortable medium reach. It turned into a scorpion whose stinger did the same kind of attack. This form was aquatic with very fast swim speed and a low profile, making it the best choice for water. It was slow and awkward on land. Next was the staff with high damage and short reach. It was much more risky to use but I 3 hit killed the 1st boss with it. It turned into a bird with no attack, which could allow skipping entire areas. Lastly the sword had the least reach and most damage but …

Lastly the sword had the least reach and most damage but with the player dying in 1 hit from anything getting so close was a massive risk. It turned into a dragon that made the game a shoot em up while it lasted. Best thing in the game by far. Unfortunately the sword vanished afterwards and I was stuck with shurikens again. The bosses followed very predictable patterns rather than having a random element. It was decent fun though I would rather have more than 1 hp with greater variety of items to find, more levels, and fewer of those very fast erratically moving enemies.
