Grueling, punishing, exciting, rewarding - a lot of fun; a lot of stressful fun

4/10 J'aurais aimé adorer ce jeu, mais franchement on se fait trop chier. C'est d'une lenteur ohlalala.

Certainly Addicting

I've more or less played this game twice. It's good! It's pretty good. If you have a lot of time, play it like normal. If not, I highly recommend cheating so that you have essentially infinite money and heirlooms. At some point, maybe 15 hours in, you begin to feel the resource grind, and it sucks! To be fair, I …

If not, I highly recommend cheating so that you have essentially infinite money and heirlooms. At some point, maybe 15 hours in, you begin to feel the resource grind, and it sucks! To be fair, I like to play a lot of games and finish them. I very much appreciate a succinct experience. This is not that. Anyways, the vibe, gameplay, art, music, all that stuff is quite good. Give it a shot! Or perhaps head straight to the sequel?

Although at first this game REALLY stressed me out, I got back into it after a few months and had a blast for a good 100-200 hours. That said, as a rogue-like dungeon crawler, it is very repetitive. Hard was a nice challenge, but too RNG dependent for me to really enjoy.

A devilish dive into the deepest depths of depravity

Alliteration aside, this Rogue-like horror RPG will push more than just your party onto the brink of insanity - it may just drive you mad as well. Alliteration aside, this Rogue-like horror RPG will push more than just your party onto the brink of insanity - it may just drive you mad as well. Let me just say that this game is at times oppressively difficult and almost always oozing with foreboding atmosphere. When your characters succumb to their Lovecraftian enemies, they die for good. This dynamic makes every choice and every chance you take in or out of battle a tense one. In Darkest Dungeon, the player must tread carefully but there is always a risk of disaster or death around each corner so even the most careful player will lose characters eventually... all this said, the game is gripping and addictive as it is at times frustrating. The sense of accomplishment when keeping your party alive throughout a tough dungeon is very gratifying. There exist few games that demonstrate such artful environments and atmospheres while also pushing the player to the limit of their own mental capacities. I would recommend this game to anyone interested in survival horror or rpg games, as long as they have the stomach for a very hardy challenge.

Very exciting. Lots of new features, balancing, a new hero, new items and game mechanics and "town events."

I was playing this recently but (as usual) the game completely wrecked me and sucked my soul out of my body. Once again I lost all my best heroes and all my important trinkets. So I'm actually too traumatised to play it at the moment, but I'm installing the update, perhaps in a month or so I'll have the courage to face the unspeakable horrors once again.

I'm slowly getting the hang of this game. It's really hard and mean, but I recently downloaded the update and the devs have addressed some balancing issues.

I was almost about to completely give up on this game after all of my characters were wiped out completely on multiple occasions, causing me to have to start over. But two little tips have made the experience better for me:

1. It's ok to fail. This sounds like the kind of advice I'd give someone for Dark Souls or UFO: Enemy Unknown. Let go of your characters and allow them to die if they fail. Learn from mistakes. Even send in poorly-equipped death parties and kill them intentionally to bring back a couple scraps of treasure. Retire stressed out or diseased characters instead of wasting money trying to cure them. Focus on upgrading your village and realise that heroes are expendable.

2. Cheat. Cheat wisely and cheat frequently. If you don't cheat in this game then you're doomed, so go wild googling all the help you can get. Even with google's help it's still an extremely difficult experience. Once I started looking up guides, party combinations and curio interactions the experience became much more enjoyable. Instead of simply guessing I started trying to apply useful/recommended strategies. It didn't make it easy, but it made the experience fun and slightly less hopeless.

Great, it sounds like Darkest Dungeon has received some much-needed patching and updates recently. I started playing this game in the early access and I love it. I'd like to finish it, but I haven't even got to the Darkest Dungeon part yet, cause I feel like I have to kill all the bosses, cause there's a checklist with their names on them... checklists are the spawn of Satan, I swear. When I found out I have to beat the same bosses on 3 different difficulties, I just plummeted into depression. Maybe I need therapy or something...
