Sim is Janky and unpolished but has some clever writing in the adventure bits

The mechanics of the trading sim are screwed up in all sorts of ways. The economics are broken and you can exploit the game in several ways. Some things don't work right. It gets boring fast. The game istself features a 'campagin' that doesnt really last that long, and then a kind of NG+ that gets stale.

The sim part reminded me a bit of Hypnospace Outlaw for lack of anything to compare it to. The UI is not so great but its basically akin to a browser or something like Emily is Away or HO and mostly just serves as a means to an end. The adventure parts are more entertaining, well written, and really capture the tone of the setting (the best bits were the 'dating' sequences and cutscenes) I did like the sense of humor and exposition, i did not like the crummy mechanics and window dressing elements (the way you spend your money is stupid and meaningless, but i guess that was the point) the best bit is arguably going to the coffee machine which can speed up time or slow it down depending on what mood you are in.

I wouldn't really recommend this game. I'm not sure who it's target audience would even be. If you like the idea of hobnobbing with some crappy spoiled adult-children who refer to everything they had for breakfast, lunch or dinner as 'dogshit' then this games for you!

giopep's review of The Invisible Hand

Both the simulation part and the narrative part don't feel particularly deep if taken by themselves but the mix is a fun, interesting, effective satire of the high finance world. I guess it's a case of "The whole is greater than the sum of the parts".
