For anyone who wants to get this working on their Steam Deck, you need to bypass the 2K launcher to get the game to launch. There are multiple executables in the BioShock Collection folder, one for the 2K launcher and one for each of the individual games. You need to get your launcher to point to the BioShock executable and not the 2K launcher. You just need to tell your launcher to look in the following subpath for the file:

BioShockRemastered > Build > FinalEpic > BioShockHD.exe

I'm using Heroic Launcher, so it is fairly easy to point Heroic at the alternative executable. You just need to navigate to the setting page for the game in Heroic, select the "Other" submenu from the left hand side of Heroic and then click on the file selector under "Select an alternative EXE to run". Should work like a charm. I've had no issues so far, and I a have tested both Proton 7.0 and Experimental, with both working without any failures.

You'll likely have to do this with each game, but since I haven't installed all three I can't be sure the 2K launcher will always be the default executable upon installation. …

If you are launching the game from the Epic Launcher within Steam you might have trouble because I can't find a way to point the Epic Launcher at the game executable instead of the 2K launcher executable. The game just fails to launch, and you won't even seen the 2K Launcher splash graphic to know that is the reason. So, unless something changes, it seems pointless to launch it from the Epic Launcher.

Bioshock: (4/5) I didn’t notice much difference graphically between this version and the original, although it’s been almost ten years since I played the PS2 version of Bioshock. The game felt much easier this time, with most of the difficulty coming from my stinginess with my money that prevented me from buying bullets. I should have used melee more because I kept running out of my good bullets. I like all the extra mechanics, like the enemy research photography and the mild attempt at crafting. The story? Well, it’s hard to recreate my shock and delight from the first time I played, when I went in completely blind and was floored by the twists. However I still think this is one of the best-crafted video game stories, with lots of little environmental details to help sell it. Still a classic for a good reason.
