Last year, I came across this game that instantly got my attention thanks to its somber and dark comic book-esque style. Harsh edges, heavy shadows, and quite a bit of gore, something that's usually not my cup of tea unless it brings something promising to it. But somehow, it called to me, and I gave it a try. And my God (ha!), it was a real delight to my artist and comic book-loving self!
The Blind Prophet is a point-and-click action game where you play as an Apostle that has been woken up from a really deep slumber (yeah, we're talking thousands of years here) to save the town of Rotbork, which is in dire need of help. I don't have to say what sorts of dangers the town faces due to the fact that an Apostle is the only one that can help them, do I?
But anyways, what I really liked from the storytelling in the game is its use of comic panels as a way to narrate and progress further through the story. The ambiance as a whole really emphasizesthe fact that the town is nowhere near safe, and by the end of it you'll have grown …

The ambiance as a whole really emphasizesthe fact that the town is nowhere near safe, and by the end of it you'll have grown to love some of the characters in it, believe it or not.
When I picked the game back up again (since I got sidetrack with other games), I decided to do a whole restart in order to play it more thoroughly. And as I've come to the end of it, I noticed that I wasn't really that far from finishing it that first time. But I really can't complain! It's been great to go back to it again.
If you're into point-and-click adventures that lean more into the darker side of things, I really recommend it. The only thing that hasn't made me give it five stars is the translation errors and the fact that it makes the puzzle solving a little bit harder. But other than that, it's worth a try!
