Look: 6/10 Tho the speccy colors are good, and the sprites are mostly very well-done, it just felt bland for some reason. Maybe cuz the rooms were so similar? I dunno. I really should appreciate this look: it's a great classic speccy adventure look, they're all functional, and some are even well-done like the character sprite and some of the enemies. But meh. Maybe it's cuz the gameplay turned out to be so tedious and there was no sound to push me through heh. There was no striking moment to screenshot so... I dunno, here's the video walkthrough if you're curious about the sprites that were good
Sound: 5/10 Uh, am I missing something or is there just no sound? I read up on it and, indeed, it's supposed to just be those occasional clicks and drips heh. Absurd... I thought I would like early games without sound, since traditionally (when I thought "early games" were Castlevania and Zelda heh) I played early games without sound. But now I have been challenging myself to actually have sound on and it has grown on me. Ironic heh...

Play: 6/10 I read that the navigation aspect of the game is illogical: moving up then right does not lead to the same room as moving right then up. But I was excited to see the game came with in-depth, myth-laden instructions and a map (tho of course the fan-made speccy screenshot map was the one I used). Once I actually started playing, it felt kinda bland. Like, there was no sound? And tho the Look is well-done, it just felt very generic zx spectrum adventure look. It has such ambition (on paper)! So I'm confused by its blandness in actual gameplay. The controls weren't horrible, a little clunky with collision masks and fighting, but the flying was surprisingly decent. I did, indeed as expected, get frustrated with the illogical navigation, especially coupled with the bland/almost-nonexistent differentiation of rooms. I like how you heal, especially with the drip--kinda gave me a Tears of Guthix feel (from OSRS).
Feel: 5/10 Kinda funny/neat you can just fly at will. I really wanted to finish through this since there's a set ending, action-adventure is one of my go-to genres, the speccy is one of my favorite early platforms, and it's the perfect length--about an hour or 2 of gameplay as long as you have a map that helps you with the illogical navigation (and prevents you from wasting time with the plethora of false collectibles).
Attachment: 5/10 I wound up relying on a video walkthrough cuz I tired of the illogical navigation even with a map. I wish there were a written walkthrough of the game, just "left right up" etc., that would've reminded me of the Zelda-and-beyond era of action-adventures that I so look forward to. But as it is, I could only find a video walkthrough--and it felt really tedious (sorta like the maze aspects of the game heh). Maybe if I had all the time in the world, only owned this game, actually enjoyed the gameplay, and the Look/Sound were striking, this would be neat to explore for weeks and weeks and figure it all out--but as it is, meh. Anyway, I decided just to start watching segments of the video and writing down the directions for myself heh. After all there were no real puzzles or tips relevant for the fighting: it's just navigating the illogical maze and clicking when fighting. I kinda enjoyed it once I had that system down and relied on my handwritten notes to navigate... and again, the flying through rooms (even when not necessary) was neat/fun lol. But yeah, I highly doubt I would play this again... Disappointed cuz it had such potential... sorta like all the imagined (literally) games that Imagine Software proclaimed but never actually published heh.. In fact, in the end, I quit about halfway through the game. It was far too tedious and boring.
Completion: Collected one of the... whatever the collectibles are called. At least it wasn't one of the fakes! Playtime: ~30 mins
