IDK, I barely got like 40 minutes into the game, but it just didn't have the sauce. The menus were clunky, movement was clunky, the melee felt weird, and having to walk over stuff being w + e just felt wrong. The faces did look really good though. Also, the second time I opened the game, all of the textures …

The menus were clunky, movement was clunky, the melee felt weird, and having to walk over stuff being w + e just felt wrong. The faces did look really good though. Also, the second time I opened the game, all of the textures just would not work, and realistically I should have given it one more try, but that sourced me on the game and I just uninstalled it before I could try it again, and since it was a big install and leaving gamepass in three days, I didn't care enough to redownload.

As a short single player experience, it's quite worth it. Fun, linear, ok story, amazing graphics. Probably won't remember this game in a short while, but I'm glad I played it.

I'm full of innocence and childlike wonder and sometimes I still dare believe my computer is able to run anything with more than two dimensions.

I heard this game was ass but I haven't encountered much ass at all. Like it's okay, probably better than Dead Space Remake, not amazing, but not AWFUL. Also yeah, haven't really seen much ass; it's really dark. Was really looking forward to ass and feel a little disappointed ngl :\

After playing a few hours there is something decidedly missing from this game, which is a shame because I want to see more good games in this genre. The linearity really takes away from the experience. I think this is partly because you don’t get to explore the location and understand more about it and its inhabitants before the crisis (not that there are any interesting audio logs or documents to find), and partly because multiple branching paths adds to the tension of whether you are going the “right” way or when you might find a safe room again.

The combat is also just a little “off’ and doesn’t quite feel as satisfying. The camera is pulled in tight on Jacob, which works well for the horror movie aspect but his character model obstructs your view when actually fighting. I believe that the limited movement melee focused combat was a good choice for the game and it brought something fresh feeling, but it doesn’t work when fighting multiple combatants as he turns as slowly as a dump truck. It seems like it could have used a lock on system or a quick turn to help that, or some crowd control weapons or attacks.

Just finished the main story. This was a pretty decent outing to be fair. You could certainly feel the dead space similarities from the get go; but for me it never quite struck that same chord as the Dead Space series. The combat was pretty intriguing and rather innovative initially but it soon wore off and became repetitive and a little frustrating if I’m honest. The graphics and visuals were very impressive and the story was interesting enough for me to see the game to its conclusion with a pretty solid boss fight. I absolutely loved the Dead Space and the feeling of isolation and terror around every corner. Callisto protocol had its moments but never created that same atmosphere for me.

Early on, I can tell this will get stale soon from a gameplay perspective. Extremely simplistic melee combat, with easy dodging. And there's a block mechanic I had to look up how to use, because it seemingly didn't work after I upgraded it. Hoping the 10hrs to finish is accurate.

Less than 2hrs in, I already have a theory about a not-so-clever twist the story will probably take, based on the 10 seconds of "lore" it's shown.

The graphics sure are impressive though.
