There's a lot to say about what this game gets wrong, but I don't know if it's truly worth the effort. I might write something up. But just every aspect of this thing is an exercise in not taking chances, and how aggressively average-to-lame it makes the game.

This one feels...hm...laborious? Something feels off. The new enemies aren't really fun to fight and the new guns are just the same old with a new paint job. I'll finish it for posterity, but not loving it so far.

Okay enough. Story was sort of meh. Gameplay was a bit underwhelming. Felt like they shoved as many vehicle sections as they could without really polishing things up for something very memorable.

Read moreI finally beat this courtesy of game pass. I thought the cortana plot was cool but the big bad was random and how they just knew what to call the dude was kind of immersion breaking to me. The new mechanics were fun but I kept running out of ammo on my preferred weapons and had to resort to the new energy weapons that didn't exactly blow me away aside from looking cool. The game is pretty and some of the new weapons were dope. All in all it was a fine game but didn't hook me like they used to. I'll give guardians a go and see what happens.

I've always heard how people hate 343's Halo games. I honestly don't understand why. This just seems like more Halo to me. But much, much, much prettier (and a touch harder on Normal than the previous games, since you take more damage and shields take forever to recharge).
