The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the first 3D open-world game in the Zelda series. Link can travel anywhere and be equipped with weapons and armor found throughout the world to grant him various bonuses. Unlike many games in the series, Breath of the Wild does not impose a specific order in which quests or dungeons must be completed. While the game still has environmental obstacles such as weather effects, inhospitable lands, or powerful enemies, many of them can be overcome using the right method. A lot of critics ranked Breath of the Wild as one of the best video games of all time. Read less

So I managed to get the 120th shrine (with some help of an online map, who would have thought that they would put a torch lighting puzzle in the middle of the desert near a molduga? ) and went through the middle trials of the sword. So I managed to get the 120th shrine (with some help of an online map, who would have thought that they would put a torch lighting puzzle in the middle of the desert near a molduga? ) and went through the middle trials of the sword. Now I need to get the final trials, hyrule shield, royal armour, and banish ganon once and for all before taking a little break to start TotK.

I think I'm overstaying in this game though, I just reached the point when I go fight a silver lynel because I'm bored and try to finish it without receiving any hits. So a good time I guess for a final challenge, and wrapping up.

So the main purpose of 900 koroks is keeping me sane, apparently. Because everywhere I go looking for the 120th shrine ends up being a Korok hideout. If they were empty instead, it would be way more of a struggle keep on going.

Two nights ago, I dreamt about the location of the last shrine. Yesterday after work I followed my dream, glided from Hebra mountains to the west and met my obvious demise.

Last night, I dreamt again about the shrine. Fingers crossed.

Another one that I really, really never noticed before but I think I should have is the weather fading. Going from snowing to not-snowing always has a rain zone in between. Almost imperceptible but that kind of subtle details are one of the things that made this game really special.

I will miss it, I think, and it's a bit sad in the larger picture that my last playthrough is trying to 100% it as fast as possible.

I'm 3 shrines short of the 120 and I think I'm running out of places to explore. Which would be awful as it will mean my griding strtegy was too coarse for a few shrines and oh fuck oh lord.

The final dungeon of the Champion's ballads DLC feels quite like a dungeon, I loved it. And the final boss was actually quite challenging as well, definitely more than Ganon. And I liked its story too, and Kass even more, so 10/10.

The reward is shit though. Why do I want a horse that I have to feed?

I finally passed the first part of the Trials of the Sword and, still playing this game, I feel basically enter image description here

This was my first Zelda game and I have to say it was a pretty good game. Very fun to truly just go anywhere and explore whatever I wanted. I got lost for hours just running around in the world, finding cool areas, and climbing enormous mountains. Combat wasn't my favorite, not even due to the weapon durability feature, I didn't mind that. I avoided combat with enemies as much as possible when I could, usually by just running past them. I had a lot of fun on the shrines, though a few were frustrating yet rewarding when I finally figured them out (unless I had to resort to googling the answers). I really enjoyed the Divine Beasts puzzles. Story was meh, not sure if this is average for a Zelda game. Characters were also kind of one note and bland to me. Urbosa was easily my favorite champion in the game, and probably my favorite character. Mipha was ok, but I didn't really like Daruk and Revali all too much. Kass was cool, and his riddles were fun to solve. I sunk about 80 hours into this game and it took me about a month and a half to complete. I got the majority of the shrines done (missing like 10) and completed the Champion's Ballad DLC. Didn't play at all in Master Mode, and I didn't do the trial of the sword (which I heard can actually be quite fun). No way in hell was I ever planning to 100% this game. Finished with maybe around 200 Korok seeds found, I can't believe there are like 700 more laying out there in Hyrule. Mainly wanted to get this off of my backlog to play Tears of the Kingdom (which released today as I'm writing this), but I might wait a bit to dive back into Hyrule. I won't be waiting 6 years this time around like I did with BOTW lol. TOTK already has stellar reviews, and I'm excited to experience it eventually. I just don't want to burn myself out on Zelda, so I might finally play Elden RIng since I've been putting it off until summer when I'd have time to play. Overall, BOTW is a good game. I had fun just running around Hyrule and taking myself wherever I wanted to go. On a final note, I recorded the majority of my gameplay. I am considering diving into video editing and uploading a cut of the gameplay to YouTube. Could be a fun summer project. If anyone has any tips/ticks for me in attempting this, I would very much appreciate that (what video editing software to use, how to write scripts for YouTube videos, how to upload/grow a YouTube channel, etc). Thanks for reading my review!

Reading Zelda's Diary really transforms the ending where Zelda asks if you remember her cause now Link has read her diary.

This part rules. I had never done this before. Don't think I knew Link made that pose. Just cool coming back to this years later and still finding brand new stuff.

Just an hour into the game but damn we have in our hands something very special here, yum yum. Interesting to see how much Elden Ring was inspired by it (catching butterflies and ruined temples!), and how Shadow of the Colossus (grabbing/ climbing stuff and ruined temples!) influenced it.
