The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the first 3D open-world game in the Zelda series. Link can travel anywhere and be equipped with weapons and armor found throughout the world to grant him various bonuses. Unlike many games in the series, Breath of the Wild does not impose a specific order in which quests or dungeons must be completed. While the game still has environmental obstacles such as weather effects, inhospitable lands, or powerful enemies, many of them can be overcome using the right method. A lot of critics ranked Breath of the Wild as one of the best video games of all time. Read less

Curious if anyone else dislikes the voice acting in Breath of the Wild. I've always loved that voices in Zelda games are limited to little utterances and was pretty upset to hear people talking. I can still remember all the clips in WW and MM. I'll be upset if this is even more prominent in Tears of the Kingdom …

Still have not gotten through this one. I really enjoy it while playing it, just haven't completed.

Have finished all of the main dungeons and have the Master sword

I never finished this game, this is my 3rd time starting again. I probably should have stuck with one save, but it's not too bad to start over either. This time I will try to stick with it and see the adventure to the end!

Help, I am stuck in the beginning. Can't enter the cold area. I destroyed my cooking pot and the hot peppers don't give me cold resistance uncooked, also roasted they're not giving me cold resistance (they're supposed to?!). But I can't cook them with something else without the pot now. What do I do?

total hours played on main save: 450 (probably another 100 hours on random saves I was playing around with, but I like to mostly stick to a main save)

This game got me into gaming. It just sucked me in and brought me so much joy. Thats really all I can say. even now that my save is maxed out with all shrines and every corner of the map explored, I still am able to get so much value to of it. 10/10 Recommend

I've been playing with stable diffusion and learning how it works and what's its strengths and weaknesses are. So here's (one of the many) "The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, Mucha illustration"

I'm going to finally get around to beating this. I was like 90% done when I stopped before. Maybe Nintendo has been waiting until I beat it to finally give us more information about the release of the sequel.

I'm vacationing in Ushuaia and making my own Hero Path

Also, this wavy meadow could be a screenshot from the game.

Well, there you go credits. That fight with Ganon was weak sauce compared with the rest of the game. Pretty underwhelming, design-wise. Just a generic, gimmicky boss fight in a circular empty chamber.

Today I met the Lord of the Mountain. Saw a green glow and checked it out. It's really cute, weird and majestic but apparently you are supposed to mount and tame it?

I feel that one of the dark undercurrents of this game is it's extractivistic ethos. In a lot of systems it feels like the world is there for link to pillage for his advantage. Mow down forests to build Terry Town, kill and eat whatever living creature crosses your way (which I only discover accidentally the other day when I killed some animal by accident during a fight), mount and exert your will over any wild horse, usw... Even the Hinox are always just by chilling, but the game nudges you (or explicitly directa you to) killing attacking them and killing them.

I notice this even more as my girlfriend and I are replaying Haven, which has most definitely a restorative feel. You only take fruits and combat is actually tu cleansing the wildlife of the poison making them aggressive.

I don't think you're supposed to think this, though. It feels more like an unfortunate side effect of the open world and its various systems. It's also not alone. Many other games share this sense that the world you inhabit has been created for you and it is for you to make as you will.

I can't believe I'm still not tired of this game; although my girlfriend is bored of watching me play it.

I'm still loving the game. Now finding new, more obscure shrines, and following the Rumour Mill to find other items. (Why didn't I read those before! I would've wanted a custom teleport location before spending 60hours just using shrines and towers!)

Anyway, I'm +45hours in, all four beasts liberated and carrying the sword and I've just now encountered this new mechanic and in-game currency that feels more like a mid-game addition. I guess I didn't do things in the proper order, but that's the problem with truly open world games.
