Standout Of Early RTS/Strategy Games

Preliminary: Wow the intro video is both beautiful and interesting.

And the gameplay is super solid so far. Favorite of the RTS games so far. Great music too.

Well this started out so strong but I got into the usual frustrations with the mechancis of RTS games, couldn't select my MCV from behind a power plant and wasn't in the mood to dig through information to figure out how to get aroudn it. Strategy games will never be my favorite genre, but this one stands out among the early ones for sure!!!

Look: 8/10 The game itself is just so-so, but the cutscenes and especially that intro FMV were amazing

Sound: 9/10 Excellent

Play: 7.5/10 Again, not a favorite genre, but this one is top-notch for its genre.

Feel: 8/10 Has that Starship Troopers/RoboCop/Total Recall irony in the beginning cutscene

Attachment: 7.5/10 If I return to early RTS, this will be it, along with that Dune one I liked.

Overall: 8/10

Waking up to someone playing this on low volume was so soothing, believe it or not, starting the day to the sweet sounds of warfare. The gameplay is just fantastic as well as the entire presentation, depth and replayability of it. The wonderful FMV cut scenes and different war time scenarios are presented brilliantly.

We mostly played C&C on PC with keyboard and mouse, which is what you want for this genre, but there was a pretty cool N64 version, and from what I hear a somewhat solid Playstation version. I wonder how many hours we clocked in this, on campaign mission, special operations, multiplayer (LAN and Online) and all the downloadable / modded content through the years. It's just a fantastic franchise with one of the best soundtracks and soundscapes in gaming history. Unit lost. Shoot, hold on brb.
