Waste of time and boring

Everything moves very slowly, speaks very slowly. It's really boring to constantly explore and listen to meaningless dialogues and look for something. I don't think the choices have any impact on anything, nor do I think the story and characters are interesting. I really don't understand why Telltale wasted time with this game when they had Wolf Among Us. I guess this company will never wise up and they need to go bankrupt again. Telltale wasted time by making incredibly wrong decisions. They still continue to make the same bad decisions today. I wish a more decent company had bought the rights to this game and continued it. Wolf Among Us has serious potential, but it's being held in a cage by the wrong game company.

Probably the smoothest Tell Tale game I've played

I rather liked this game a lot. Story wise, sure. Maybe it can't quite compete with the Walking Dead games. And as far as the choices matter 3rd person adventure style games, sure, maybe this doesn't compete with Star Trek Resurgence or Life is Strange Before the Storm, but regardless.

This is about the smoothest playing game of its kind that I've played. The controls were quite easy and well polished.

I like Camina and I liked the story of this game. It made me want to read the Expanse novels all over again.

Overall, I liked this game a lot and would like to see more Expanse video games in general.

The Expanse: A Telltale Series Review

I was frustrated at the first two episodes because getting to know the characters on your ship was locked behind difficult-to-find collectibles. I had to use a walkthrough on the second episode, and some of this stuff I would have never found without a guide. As the story played out over the remaining episodes, I realized there's nothing new here. I love the show. I love Camina Drummer. This story just seemed to retread conversations and storylines similar to what I've already seen on the show. This is a forgettable side story not really worth the time. I do at least like the new approach to QTEs where there's a time limit to press the correct button that doesn't instantly fail me when I press the wrong button first and then the correct button within the time limit.

Dollerz's review of The Expanse: A Telltale Series

Really enjoyed, nice to be back in the land of Telltale, my first playthrough in about 5 years. It's just comforting, I love the dedication to the Expanse universe - everything here feels right out of the TV show. Even the character models and graphics are improved, though knowing Drummer's and a few other's fates in the TV show meant the stakes felt a bit lower. Drummer is an excellent protagonist, however, and the voice acting is top notch. A bit janky when moving in space, but still fun!

So disappointed

Could only make it part way through episode 2. I LOVE the expanse. It’s likely my favorite show and favorite book series of all time. But I’ve never been able to finish a Telltale game… the gameplay just doesn’t capture me. And that was true again here. I loved the idea of playing as Drummer. It just wasn’t fun and the story seemed to be pretty generic and low stakes and I didn’t like any of the other characters. And perhaps most of all, it just didn’t look good. Space environments in particular look super flat. Character models are alright. Ships look decent and there’s enough detail inside to feel pretty real. Really wanted to love this game and I’m still glad I paid for it because I want to support and encourage the franchise… but that doesn’t extend to lying about my experience in a review.

Telltale is back baby! :)

I have always loved Telltale games. And I love Expanse the TV show.
It's their first installment where you can freely walk around, without that weird camera angle, which is a huge plus.
I liked the characters (the main one is even my absolute favourite from the show), I loved all the little cameos and easter eggs. Story was fun, the bad guys too.
Played it twice to get platinum and yes, your decisions still don't matter much. First playthrough was as i felt it and I got the best possible outcome (read as everyone who could did survive). Second time I chose always different choices in dialogues and in the big decision points and the whole game ended up absolutely the same way with the difference of more deceased characters.. so when it comes to that "every choice matters" it actually really doesn't :D
But I'm here for the story and characters so this doesn't bother me that much :). I am already excited for their next game.

The details they manage to capture from the TV show here in this game are awesome! I just wish there were manual save points and a way to speed run conversations so that when going back for collectibles, it's not a painful process...

I found Wolf Among Us to be ten times better. This one, unfortunately, felt pretty dull, and the inclusion of the lesbian storyline didn’t really enhance the experience for me.
