It serves as a reboot of the franchise, with a new incarnation of Lara Croft. The typical third-person action-adventure exploring is still present, and Lara can move more freely because specific jumps no longer limit her. As players travel through rough environments, they will need to run, dive, swim, climb on poles, ladders, and roofs, use zip lines, shimmy, and vault, with acrobatic actions such as somersaults and flips. Players need to cross difficult terrain, solve puzzles to advance or open up new areas, and engage in combat. Read less

That took me a long time to complete. Was fun, but using an Xbox controller on PC was painful.

Finished this up! It's always had a few rough edges, but it's lightning paced and so endearingly campy that I couldn't help but have fun. (and cartwheeling and swan diving down every last corridor never gets old, of course)

Replaying Legend for the first time since it came out, totally forgot that there's an elaborate and honestly pretty fun forklift driving sequence in here! With my crate staircase I will reach the heavens, or at least this dingy air duct.

I decided to check out this trilogy first and maybe try the classics later. Surprisingly, the game holds up really well. Current PC version runs well on modern rig. No issue with controls too. Next gen graphic ruined the lighting and shading but character models and textures looks slightly better. Would love to see proper remasters in the future.

The game itself is pretty solid. Each level takes you to interesting locations and they're not necessarily just dank underground tombs. It has a great mix of combat, platforming and puzzle solving as well as cinematic moments. Lara in this game is much more competent and badass compared to recent trilogy. The only complaint I have is the weak story and lack of weapon variety. Also, there's some jank here and there but this game is almost 20 years old so I can tolerate that.

Overall, had a lot of fun with this game. Looking forward to play Anniversary and Underworld soon.

Barely 3 Stars... 2 for storyline, 3 for gameplay, 4 for Lara, and 5 for Playstation giving us the ability to "Rewind"

This game is almost two decades, three consoles, and going on two generations (with the recent announcement from Crystal Dynamics), old

The story was so ZZZzzz that I really couldn't tell you what it was about. But there was plenty of commentary from the guy "in my ear" most of the time. I think that took away most of what I like about the original mystery, and exploration, of it all.

Gameplay controls, for 2006, was right on, as they introduced some great action mechanics.

Lara looked Amazing, especially for that graphical generation. She stood out as the visual focus, like a piece of art, on display. She didn't look "real", but so what, I had to look at her 8hrs, and I was not disappointed. If she wasn't in a jacket, she was basically in "outdoor lingerie". The other characters did act/react in a way that would be natural for girl, that looks like that, to be in their presence.

Last, but certainly not least, the "Rewind" feature kept me in the game. There were MANY sequences, that I would NOT have been able to continue on, if I had to wait for load times, and return to past checkpoints. There were some Crazy Frustrating jumping sequences, that even with the rewind, I had to attempt over, and over, and over again.

On to the next one! (Yes, my backlog is this deep ;-)

Única entrega de Tomb Raider para Gamecube. As a player of the original Play station Tomb Raider I was excited to try another installment on Xbox one. The overall game play and graphics are alright but tended to be dark or difficult to get a decent view based on the limited perspective options. This occasionally led Lara to get 'stuck' in a spazzing view if moved into a tight corner with the view angle 'wrong'. However, what shifted this game from average to below average for me was the build of the game play itself. The cutscenes tended to be long with no option to skip over them, which is not the worse thing in the world until you hit a challenging or unpredictable area. Then the obligatory scenes become annoying as you watch it over and over again. Navigating and figuring our how to get through several of the cut-scenes with mandatory action items was also a huge headache. There are no instructions on what is coming up and you have to figure out how to get past the scene by trial an error, which becomes maddening when you add a 3 minute long cute scene clip that you cannot skip. After several hours of total game play, I decided the game wasn't worth it and moved on. However, a more experiences gamer might find it less maddening and enjoy the game.

I know they're super male gazey and I know they're nothing but over the top trope ridden action games but goddamn did I love these older Tomb Raider games. They're just so ridiculous and fun, even with all their flaws.
