My oh my, what a game.

Audiovisually this game is gorgeous to look at and listen to. I just find the controls to be somewhat janky and frustrating. Still one of the masterpieces of Nintendo in spite of it being frustrating at times.

Yikes! This game did not age well! I'm not sure why I keep playing these older games this year, must be something nostalgic going on. The camera was just maddening in some levels, making it much more challenging than it should have been. The gravity mechanics are still amazing and you can see hints of future genius, but this game is yet another that I should have just kept in the memory banks.

Top 5 game of all time

This game is just, phenomenal, I can't even describe it. If you like good video games play this. A review wouldn't do it justice.

I broke out my old Wii for the kids and put this game in. They watched me play and beat Mario Odyssey last year and continue to collect over 500 moons this year. So it's a bit odd to be taking a step back after such a great game. Typically playing retro games with the kids, they can easily see the difference (i.e. flat S/NES games vs today's 3D games), but a Wii game graphically almost holds up against newer games (especially Mario games), it's mostly just a bit blurrier when up on the projector. So when playing this vs Odyssey it only becomes clear that the handling and gameplay is a little more polished in the newer game.

It's surprising to me how well Mario Galaxy's gameplay holds up against the newer titles, though. The upside-down controls can be un-intuitive and super frustrating at times, and that's probably my biggest gripe with this one. I also like in Odyssey that you don't leave the world when you get a moon, where with Galaxy you have to start over after each star. Otherwise it's a super fun Mario romp that the kids enjoyed watching and I enjoyed playing just as much as Odyssey. And unlike Odyssey -- that has an absurd and unfixed number of moons (because you can purchase them??!) -- it's nice to have the fixed 120-star target to shoot for. I chose not to go through the tedium of getting all the stars again with Luigi, so I don't have a chance at getting the very last star, but I'm okay with that.

Overall, you can't go wrong with 3D Mario.

This great Mario 3D adventure that uses the Wii capabilities to the proper degree. One of the top 5 Wii games in the classic console's history, Mario Galaxy is creative, fun, and introduces the popular character of Rosalina. There is nothing bad to say about Galaxy, but I never loved it as I did some of the other Mario games throughout the years.

Mario nello Spazio

Voto: 10/10

By far, this is the greatest game I've ever played in my life.

Nintendo did an excelent job chosing the space theme to a Mario journey; everything in the game fits perfectly. The soundtrack is amazing! The orchestra matches entirely with the whole space thing. I can surely say that I enjoyed every single minute that I spent playing it. The gameplay is extremely addictive, fun and gratifying. Despite the inital plot being the same from other Mario games, this one brings an entirely new "galaxy" to the Mario universe. The new moves that has been included, the new power-ups, the new way to play depending on the gravity of each planet, and specially, Rosalina. Her story is told in an subtle way and it is so beautiful and deep that made me feel emocional. I loved everything in this game, and I will certainly dedicate myself again to play it sometime. :)

This was one of those games that just hung around my backlog forever. With the release of 3D All-Stars, I finally got around to playing it. I loved it! This was the hardest 3D Mario to get used to. Coming straight from Sunshine, Mario feels a lot slower and floaty (which may be the point because of the gravity). At first, I didn't really like the feeling of going around the planets and the jumps felt imprecise. The game is more linear (which I actually enjoy) yet it felt like it was taking me along in a pretty unsatisfying way. Once you settle in, though, it's so much fun. A lot of really clever design and one cool idea after another. Also, thankfully it doesn't lean too heavily on motion controls. Completely recommended.

Super Mario Galaxy is an extremely breathtaking experience.

The development for this game dates back to the near release of the Nintendo Gamecube. It was released on the Wii which goes to show how much time was put into this game. And it shows.

The Mushroom Kingdom is celebrating the Star Festival until Bowser interrupts and kidnaps Peach. Mario once again must save her. But now he is exploring the cosmos.

Super Mario Galaxy makes Bowser a bigger threat than ever and the concept of it taking place in space really sets that mood.

Mario in this game is a bit stiffer in controls compared to previous entries but it works really well regardless. His spin jump is a great feature.

I can't talk about Mario Galaxy without mentioning the music. It's the first orchestrated Mario game and it really captures the feeling of exploring space. It also contains some of the best pieces of video game music I've ever heard.

The level design, though very linear and straightforward is great. Not as good as the game's sequel, but still great. The environment of each Galaxy is great and it's a very beautiful game.

This also saw the debut of Rosalina who is an excellent character.

This is also the first 3D Mario game on console to let you play as Luigi if you collect all 120 stars.

This game is fairly easy but there are some difficulty spikes but they aren't as annoying as Super Mario Sunshine.

This game is extremely beautiful and holds a special place in my heart as it is the first game that made me fall in love with video games. When I played this again for the first time in years, I cried and that was due to the beauty of this game and it was the stepping stone into this crazy world for me

Thanks, Nintendo

Thanks Super Mario Galaxy

I loved the inventive premise, the mind bending world design, the spectacle of it all. What it lacks in freedom of exploration it makes up for in tightly constructed levels that are a blast to play. The integration of Wii motion control is perfect in a way that is generally only seen in 1st party Nintendo titles. Just a really really fun game and a great one to play with The Daily Show playing on another TV as you look forward to the Presidency of Barack Obama. YES WE CAN!

Y Mario voló, y yo volé de él

Este señor con un serio fetiche por las tuberías decidió tirarse al espacio sin traje espacial y matar gente indiscriminadamente.

This was originally a 3 stars game to me. I mean, it's a Mario game. Can't get any less and if Nintendo makes a Mario game worth less than that, I'd go get it anyway and play it to the last level, just for the sake of it.

then again, there's this complete galaxy thingie that completely bothered me the second I saw the spots on TV, videos on youtube and all of it. It was the all times Mario, defying gravity in colorful galaxies made of completely random objects, with a strange new princess of the galaxy who looks exactly like some Emo Peach. To me, it looked forced. Like they ran out of ideas for good Mario games. But then came the Wii to my house, and with it, Mario Galaxy. So I had no choice but to put it to test. First thing I noticed was that they didn't run out of ideas. They had a shower of crazy new ones. Then I noticed that crazy ideas on Mario Galaxy weren't a bad kind of crazy. It added new environments, it added new features, new enemies, new allies... So yeah. they're nuts. Completely, positive nuts to bet on this colorful stuff to throw Mario in. I found myself looking for more and more stars, trying to figure out puzzles and find hidden stuff, playing everyday!

But the most important thing of all: They gave us back the long jump. That's why, Nintendo, bloody well done, here's your fourth star.
