Too boring, Too linear. The action and fights feel much better in Dying Light 1/2 or even Dead Rising 4.

Not so bad story. Great graphics. Good music.

Updated Review for Dead Island 2:

My new score would probably be 4 out of 5 per Grouvee rating. I gave it another attempt, pure solo this time and despite some questionable game design choices, it was overall a lot of fun. I chose Dani this time, last time was Amy and I enjoyed it a lot more and I am 2 trophies away from platinumming. The change I did different this time was all side quests and it definitely makes a difference at the start, side quests/lost and founds give legendaries which are amazing and worth it.

On the DLC, HAUS dlc I would say is a 3 out of 5, it was kinda bland, didnt add any legendaries and no new enemies. It also was quite annoying to play in.

SOLA dlc I would give a 5 out of 5, I havent finished it yet but going by you chasing a boss to the end of it it is way better and it has new legendaries and enemies. SOLA also ties into the story a bit more which I like

Been playing about 2 hours so far. I'm liking the light-hearted vibe, especially compared to Dying Light 2. The story is stupid, because of course it is. The combat is the real focus here, and I'm still trying to get a grasp of it. The issue is that even really well timed, good shots to the head doesn't seem to do what you would expect?

It's important to remember that this game is pitched as an action RPG and so there are levels and hitpoints and perks, it's not so much a "mash attack until dead" combat system. However the haptic feedback on the PS5 makes you feel like you're supposed to be smashing everything in sight, when in reality you're supposed to practice some decent agility at the same time while using the environment around you to take out the zombies.

One of my favorite parts of Dying Light 2 was running from quest to quest because of how much fun it was to kill zombies - unfortunately I find myself running around them most of the time because it takes so long to kill even a regular trash mob. They all require 6-10 hits (and destroy your weapon), and even when you knock them down you had to have done head damage to "stomp" them dead. Otherwise they just get back up! It can get frustrating, perhaps I need to craft some better weapons.

Overall it's been an adventure so far, not sure about $70 but the game hasn't really quite opened up yet. We'll see how it goes.

So this is actually coming out? Are there still people out there who want to play a sequel to Dead Island? Are there people out there who aren't completely over Zombie related media?

Never released, but there is an incomplete sort of playable pre-alpha build that leaked and is floating around the internet. I played everything I could in it, so calling that played for my collection.
