Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a 2013 video game published by Activision and developed by Magic Pockets, based on the 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TV series. RoadTo360 26, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Not Enough Meat on the Bones
This review is for the Xbox 360 version

I am on a journey to beat 360 random Xbox 360 games. Here's my next adventure.

Game number 26 was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This is an action beat-em-up game, where you get to play as the 4 turtles while they are on a journey to protect New York City from evil forces.

The story of this game is pretty basic. There is a bomb that is hidden somewhere in New York and it will turn all the humans into mutants. The turtles are tasked to stop this bomb and will need to fight their way through hordes of foot gang members to do that.

This game isn’t very long, but the main gameplay loop got boring extremely quickly. Each level is pretty much just “go right and fight a wave of enemies.” This would be fine if there was good combat, but the combat is extremely lackluster. 95% of the time you will just mash the attack button and then grab/throw an enemy. Each turtle has different moves, but they boil down to the same thing and I found very little reason to not use Leonardo because his moves seemed to deal the most damage in the broadest range. …

The only other attack that you get is a special attack. This seems way too limited for an Xbox 360 game. There are enough buttons to create a good combat system and I cannot see why they made this game just mash the attack button. I guess this is a side effect of being a children’s game.

The boss fights are also pretty poor here. They follow the rules of many bad bosses and have periods of attacking and invulnerability, followed by a brief moment where they can take damage. I think this system of boss fighting is pretty lack-luster and sitting around waiting for the boss to be able to take damage just gets boring.

Overall, I don’t think that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was very fun at all and I wouldn’t recommend playing the game. It just doesn’t have a strong enough combat system to make playing it feel fun or rewarding. There are much better beat-em-ups out there and some of those great games are Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle games. Skip this and play those. (3/10)

I beat Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in 2 hours, 53 min, and 11 sec. I have spent a total of 271 hours and 41 minutes on the Road to 360 challenge so far.

Next Game: F1 Race Stars

Fails to impress me at all.

The original TMNT games are great, so I thought this one would be too. WRONG. Well it might be cool? WRONG. This game is dangerously bland and scares me about what modern TMNT games will become.
