I won't properly review this game as I just don't know how to score it. It would be a very low score as I decided to stop playing the game after spending a few hours with it. It would be a high score as it does have some really good things, especially from a small developer. However, to me that doesn't mean it averages out to a 3-star review.

The game looks wonderful. The art style is lovely, the backgrounds (and foregrounds) in certain areas are very lively and provide a lot of the atmosphere. The story (as little as I experienced) seems fairly standard but the characters and their voice acting lift it up enough to be interesting. The hacking mini-game is a nice touch as the usual puzzle/time limit challenges have been cast aside and we're effectively playing a twin-stick arcade shooter. This game has a lot potential and I expect this developer is one to keep an eye on.

Sadly, I still decided to give up. I simply didn't enjoy playing the game due to some frustrating design choices that didn't work for me. As I get older, I spend less time playing games which means that the quality of that time needs to be higher. A game mostly needs to entertain me and Dex didn't do that for me. My biggest gripe is probably the way it feels. The controls are a major part of this and they're simply not responsive enough. The dodge button on the right stick rather than a button doesn't help either. Combat in general is very poor (at least for the beginning part that I did play), it's not always clear what platform you can or cannot stand on, loading times are not great (I know we're spoiled nowadays, but still) and that's the sort of thing that ruined Dex for me.

I think anyone who enjoys cyberpunk RPGs and owns a Switch should give this game a try. Judging by reviews elsewhere, a lot of people are loving this game to bits. So give it a try and see what you think yourself.

One of the best games I ever played (enchanted version). Interesting combo - fighting or shooting sidescrolling game, combined with Shoot 'em up style hacking missions, combined with excellent RPG in cyberpunk style. One of the best games I ever played (enchanted version). Interesting combo - fighting or shooting sidescrolling game, combined with Shoot 'em up style hacking missions, combined with excellent RPG in cyberpunk style. Something of retro, which reminded my childhood, something of modern ideas. I loved it. Very good plot. Even sadly, that this game is so unique, that I can-t play another one like that. Only minus in my opinion is its ending and last missions. It felt too rushed, too much unexplained, bit too illogical for my tastes.

The games does have it's flaws, If you are a completitionist there's a point where your too effective and the game looses a good part of it's challenge (I played the Enhanced Edition which has changes to the combat) and the only thing driving it is the story, RPG elements and economy is rather although that's not a big deal since it's rather short game.

This is a fantastic indie tittle and that comes with a lack of polish, but what the developer could achieve with what they had was impressive. If you are a fan of Cyberpunk I have no problems at all recommending this game, I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the characters and the story telling.

feels right

Good Indie 2D action RPG. Emphasis on narrative driven, Basic quest and rudimentary character development. Cyberpunk setting. Plays like classics such as Blackthrone or Flashback. It's pretty hard and encourages thorough clearing of the games areas.

Would reccomend it if you like games like flashback, blackthrone, another world or even lost vikings.
