Remake of Missile Command
3.00 average rating based on 6 ratings
Missile Command reimagined as a roguelite works on a gameplay level, but it's not very faithful to the original. I understand and expect concessions to modernity, but making the entire gameplay loop really fast turns Recharged into a very different game. Once you unlock the missile speed upgrades, anticipating trajectories largely goes out the window.
Overall I'd put Missile Command Recharged 2020 over the 2022 edition. The new one feels like a misguided attempt to cash in on the success of Vampire Survivors. Progression wouldn't be a problem if it offered an optional classic mode, but bizarrely no such thing exists - despite other Recharged games like Centipede offering multiple modes.
I can't say that I hate it, but I'm also disappointed. The elegant simplicity that has made the Recharged series such a delight is missing here.
