I played this game about 2 years after its troubled release. I guess that obviously made a difference because I had such a great time playing this game and experienced a very small amount of glitches, bugs, etc. Technical issues aside, i was really blown by this title at times. I found myself in awe of Night City and all the things that made it come to life. Some characters I enjoyed more than others. Johnny Silverhand was great as was characters like Panam, Lizzy & Jackie. I must admit I found the female voice for V a little bothersome at times. She seemed, I dunno, phony lol That’s probably my main gripe with the game honestly. But all in all, fun game and I hope people that were put off by its messy launch revisited it and gave it another chance.

Quite a bit of fun. It was fun doing the stealth and having the different playthrough options. I didnät feel like completeing all the side quests, but it is one of my favorite openworld games I have played. Loved the worldbuilding. Maybe 4.5 stars

Finally got around to playing this. Even looking beyond the glitches and general jankiness that still permeate the experience on PS5 in November 2022, it's just... okay? A decent mash up of WRPG and open world action game, and that's really it. Fallout 3 meets GTA with a cyberpunk aesthetic, or some such whatever. I was genuinely surprised by how unambitious and generic the setting and narrative were. Unless you consider palling around with a dickbag Keanu Reeves ambitious, I guess. I played Soma over 5 years ago and remember the world and themes of that game better than Cyberpunk's which I just finished. I don't know, man. It's a very low-resolution experience. Dated as hell, too. I thought we'd moved passed mission objectives such as "Sit Down" which end up taking a minute of trying to figure out where the fuck the game wants you sit down to complete. Guess not. I thought RDR2 was pretty dated-on-arrival too, but I digress. I crave high-resolution narrative gaming experiences nowadays, not these 50 hour chores. Google "Warren Spector One City Block" if you're curious what I mean. I spent most of my time playing Cyberpunk fantasizing about better games I designed in my head. One of them sounded really cool, a mash up of Persona-esque simulation segments and an FPS with highly malleable mission scenarios. Damn, I wish that game existed. We'll probably just get more Cyberpunks and RDRs for a while, though.

We all know know the story by now, and CDPR execs really do have a lot to answer for (those damn Corpos eh?) But Cyberpunk really grabs you from the get-go. It's fun, brash and flashy, and its easy to get immersed in its gorgeously realised world.

It's only when you've been playing for a while that the cracks start to show. I played this on the PS5 (with PS4 edition) and at first it seemed to play fine, odd glitch aside. But the more you play, the worse it gets. Crashes happened on average once every couple of hours, broken quests meant you needed to restart or just abandon them altogether, stupid silly glitches ruining serious moments of story telling... I could go on.

At first i didn't mind the odd glitch (I mean, we've all played glitchy games). But then it started to really bother me, to the point where it made me angry. Its not just old gen consoles where the performance is bad.

If anyone has read any William Gibson then none of the concepts or story are new. But the narrative and voice acting are well done for the most part, if a bit "immature' at times with the way it deals with its subject matter.

Also the ending is very confusing and a bit too 'Mass Effect 3' for my liking. I ended up choosing an ending I didn't want because it wasn't made clear what my actions would lead to (and not in a clever way).

There is also so much quite clearly 'missing'. Public transport? Also where are the cops?? Hardly any people or traffic. And the AI is terrible sometimes.

You can't get away from the fact that this is still a really good game. The frustrations come from the fact that its just far too buggy and incomplete. This could be an all timer with some extra content, polish and fixes. I just really hope they get there. Hoping for a No Man's Sky situation here.

Cyberpunk 2077 didn't meet the expectations built for almost a decade around it. Perhaps CD Projekt's greatest mistake was to invest too much in marketing and to make promises they had no idea how to fulfill.

The game is not bad itself, although the myriad of bugs and glitches - not to mention the unplayable versions on some platforms - didn't contribute to develop a positive image. I'm certain, however, that CD Projekt is working on correcting these issues as soon as possible.

The story is catching and the gameplay is very solid. The relationship between V. and Silverhand develops in such a way that players will probably grow very fond of them in the end. However, although Night City is a very entertaining open world, it is far from being livid. Because of a poorly developed AI, NPCs look and act like zombies (besides disappearing when not in sight).

All things considered, even though I already played Cyberpunk 2077 twice in a row, I do not dismiss the possibility of playing it again in the future, especially considering the promised DLCs coming along. I recommend this game, but don't expect a breathtaking experience.

Story, characters and writing were all stellar. The characters in particular are written brilliantly. The story is extremely engaging all the way through. The way side quests interact with the main quest is also very organic. Gameplay was also very engaging, particular the character progression with multiple aspects to upgrade (skills, weapons, armor and cyberware). I found the game on Hard to be challenging at first but trivial using the later quick-hacks that I unlocked, would've preferred more challenge in the end-game.

Game is buggy as hell and feels slightly incomplete. Will definitely revisit when it has been patched and upgraded for next-gen for a second playthrough.

I did ending up revisiting the game on both PS5 and PC after it got patched and playing through it when the DLC dropped. It is absolutely in it's final form now.

This second playthrough spanned across both PC and PS5 and lasted from 2022 to early 2025, about 70 hours in total. I played a shotgun build and the new character perks are fantastic for build-crafting, as well as chroming out. The gunplay is satisfying and the character building addicting. The world in this game is truly second to none. I love all the slang the characters used and it adds a lot of depth to the world-building. The story itself is compelling and covers a lot of interesting themes that cohese perfectly with a cyberpunk setting (identity, humanity, corporations). I did all of the side quests and they're all interesting and flesh out the world just that little bit more. They really stuck at this game and brought it to an unbelievable standard. Crazy that I've played this game to completion twice, and can't wait to play it again.

Definitely an all-timer.

Man am I glad I was completely neutral on this game because the PS4 release is an unmitigated disaster. In my 8ish hours of playtime I was never able to go more than 45 minutes without a crash. I'm not sure if I ever even hit 30 fps, and while I never quite ran into the blob monsters of unloaded textures my game has been stuck in a near constant 480p and looks worse than Alien Isolation does, and I own that game on Nintendo Switch. On top of all those performance issues there are the numerous bugs. I'm all for fun clipping and weird ragdoll physics but npcs disappearing and ruining quest lines, Ui popups not going away and cluttering the screens and randomly locked movement preventing me from sprinting and jumping are just unacceptable. This legit runs worse than Mass Effect Andromeda did day one. And maybe the story and stuff underneath all of that are better, but I can't tell you as I spent every second just struggling to get the game to go. If CDPR had made it clear that their game just didn't work on anything but a high end pc maybe I'd be willing to forgive this, but considering they used no footage, have had no real response, and put all this crunch on their workers I'm gonna say no. Hopefully I can get a refund from Sony because this is honestly the worst game I've attempted to play this year.

Man, imagine putting your devs through slavish work conditions to get an okay game that's still a mess on release... I'm generally pretty good at troubleshooting and rarely find myself complaining about games being buggy, because holy shit do I not care if my game runs at 90210FPS or any of that stupid shit and if turning it off and turning it back on again fixes the problem, and it's not persistent, then it's not really a problem. So far, I haven't encountered anything game breaking, but there sure are a lot of weird wonky behaviours and little annoyances...

The real issue, so far, is that this game isn't doing much (so far at least) that Deus Ex: Human Revolution didn't do better, except, I guess, having more customization options, and the ability to handpick my genitalia (which, like, who was asking for that feature).

With all the hype (and again, the slavish working conditions put on the dev team for release), you'd think we'd get a much stronger game, but... so far, it's... fine. Unless it gets a decent amount more interesting, I probably won't even finish it, I'll just play til I've gotten my fill, and drop it.

Every month, team leaders at the company gave out tokens styled after the studio’s logo, a red bird, to members of their team they felt deserved honors, according to three current and former employees. Those tokens would have then been transferred into bonuses if the game met certain criteria, like critical acclaim and a timely release. Under the new system, those payouts will be guaranteed even though Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed and the review score has been mixed. This performance bonus comes on top of regular annual profit-sharing payouts.

This is a tragedy. Having clocked 9H into the game, I have to retire what I had said in my previous status, there's a good game here, I have been having fun despite playing it at 40+ FPS, with some noticeable frame drops, I can get through that. What I can't is how bad this release has been, how for example said in the specs picture that a GTX1060 would be able to carry GFX Settings at High, it doesn't. It's even more shameful to release the game in old base consoles when, simply, they cannot carry it. And don't say: "get a new GPU" or "buy a new gen console"; because that's some bullshit, that I know if Johnny Silverhand were listening, he would deck your ass down with an iron fist. What this game simply has, it's a bad, incredibly bad, worse than bad optimization. And this whole ordeal will stain CDPR legacy for a while, just look at how the audience scores go in their Metacritic, not a universal truth, but still significant. enter image description here

Looking at the bright side, playing with my GTX1070, with settings medium and High, I get 45-35 FPS, not ideal for a PC game, still better graphics and performance than those poor folks playing it on PS4 and XBox. Nevertheless, remembered they recommended a 1060 to play this game in High settings 1080p. This game is very, very poorly optimized. It is an insult. Open world feels like an average one, doesn't have The Witcher's magic. Color me disappointed, but as I have said, I kind of expect this to happen, too many delays, the developers aimed to high. And at the end they have offered an incredibly good looking burger -even in medium, looks beautiful- but without any beef or toppings either. I hope things get better, I hope they patch it and improve on its performance, but that might be too much. To play this game as it should be played need a RTX2080/3080, if you are going in to play something fun, I haven't yet, I hate shooters where enemies are bullet-sponges, RPG clearly don't mix that well with shooters, for me at least.

Ah, yes. There are bugs, in a world so detailed and colorful, even the minor of bugs tend to call too match attention and drift all attention to it. A pity.

Unless you have rockin PC. I would recommend Geforce Now. 1080p Ultra with Ultra Ray Tracing 60 fps. I can live without 4K if that is the replacement. I've played around the same amount on my home setup 4K 20-44 fps with mixed graphics mostly Medium-High. While a little of visual clarity is compromised I would say its worth it. …

Also, not having a data cap helps. Sorry, I didn't lead with that as well.

With all the hype this game had, being anything less than perfect was going to be a massive disappointment.

However, this is just painful. Absolutely terrible performance (ok my pc is not the best but I haven't had many problems running current games on 1080p medium with >30fps, this game struggles to reach 30 with 720p low) and multiple game-breaking bugs. Luckily all my issues have been fixed by a quick reload of a previous save (maybe that's why an ssd was heavily suggested?) and I haven't experienced any crashes.

If, nevertheless, you manage to get past all of that you will find a... lifeless open world with super generic gameplay and bullet-spongy enemies. It looks so full of life, but for most of the time that's all there is, a facade. Almost every single person answers you with a generic one-liner, like when you go to the dude that is selling fries on the street and he just tells you to fuck off, because that's the way of making a sale. Or when you try to go inside that cool building, or something that looks like a store, or anywhere for that matter and everything's closed and inaccessible.

I am having fun though, and if you're not as impatient as I am, I heavily recommend waiting for some patches, because there's clearly a great game here, just hidden a bit.

Forget it, now I am really excited about this game. The hype has been resurrected, I get the feeling that this is going to be extraordinary disastrous. enter image description here

Moved from wish list to playing. And oh God will I be playing. The school holidays can't come soon enough.
