Thinking about picking this up in the final hours of the Steam sale so I can replay it and practice not getting hit by things. Seems like it might be a good life skill.

I've been stuck against The Burst for several days now. It's about to stop being fun or at least challenging in an interesting way. Chasing her through the arena while a hundred bots fire at you is not something that I wanna repeat a lot more.

The second boss took me more time that I'm willing to admit.

I can see it coming. This game is gonna break me.

After Bloodborne put me off with all that farming bullshit I decided to go back to a game that made things simple. You've got the tools, you fight.

On this playthrough I noticed a little design detail that I hadn't noticed before. Parries heal you. In any other game, that could incentivise playing defensively when at low health and especially if that stage's health bar is low. Instead of attacking and going to the next one, it would be better to wait, parry a few blows to heal and only then move on. But because your health is filled up between stages, this game encourages you to fight back to move on to the next stage asap. So you get this tense and exhilarating moment of veing almost dead but attacking relentlessly anyway. I love it.

I had tried this a while ago and dropped it after the second stage basically because it was quite hard. Now I gave it another go and stuck with it and I'm up to the 6th boss. The second one is still the hardest but also perhaps the best. I love her design, which reminds me of that bondage GLadOS design, and how she changes in each stage. The other bosses so far were much more static and their dialogue felt a bit repetitive after trying them a few times. The fifth one was pretty charming too.

I've been enjoying this lately, on easy. Easy is surprisingly not as easy as I thought it would be.

I love the art style with neons and slightly cell shaded or pixelated graphics. Played on my steam deck before I traded it away. Now I want a steam deck again. Played it again on the computer I traded for.

I could give 5 stars easily.

Great atmosphere. Awesome story. And i love katanas. Very. Very much.

But.

Some bosses are so boring, long and repetitive. Sniper boss, mothership boss... so unnecessary. They are not hard. Just boring.

And "dash" lags so hard sometimes. Controller support is subpar. Never had that problem so far in any game before.

I'll not …

I'll not play "One More Fight" DLC. Heard it only has health-whore bosses with so many phases.

Whoever described this game as ultra-responsive should be ashamed lol. The input lag on the dash move is INFURIATING (no pun intended) and is making the last fight way harder than it should be (if not all fights, really).

I'm playing the switch port. Has anyone here compared it to the original pc/PS4 versions? Are those more responsive in any …

Still enjoying this but the bullet hell portions are less of a challenge than they are simply annoying.

Furi is starting to grow on me. I decided to scrap my original star rating after realizing this game has more to offer than I initially thought. Sometimes it’s all a matter of when you play a game.
