If you are new to roguelikes, I would reccomend looking at this one. It's a very easy to pick up roguelike that doesnt have the ACII-like interface, has music and has a lot of funny one-liner voiceovers (when you pick up a chainsaw "ooooh chainsaw, daddy likes!" etc)

I have played a few roguelikes before that have UI tweaks that are a bit similiar (such as Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup) but this is a full overhaul of the UI that overall has a really good pleasing aesthetic.

The game is however, not original in the sense it is DoomRL integrated into it. So far in my playing it anyway everything is pretty much the same (though the items, weapons and enemies are new) but the perks, skill are the same, and its very much feels like the same game.

All in all a nice game and good experience. The enhancements add to the game for sure. But its still DooomRL under the hood. (So just know what's in the package if you pick it up!)
