I give up
Something about how I was raised makes me uncomfortable with leaving things unfinished and apparently that includes video games. But I'm trying to get better at letting things go, and this one is a lost cause. Something about how I was raised makes me uncomfortable with leaving things unfinished and apparently that includes video games. But I'm trying to get better at letting things go, and this one is a lost cause. It definitely doesn't pass the would-you-recommend-this-to-someone-who-isn't-a-fan-of-the-series-yet test and even as a person who has liked every other FE game I've played, I'm getting no joy out of it.
Things I like:
- I was led to believe that Roy was going to be the worst unit ever and the fact that he's actually workable was a nice surprise
A brief list of gripes (not all of which are exclusive to this game):
- Terrible hit rates and unreasonably hard bosses
- Same turn ambush spawns and various other poorly-explained mechanics make it challenging but not in an enjoyable way
- Lots of hidden chapters with no clues given in-game as to how to trigger them, forcing you to play every chapter with a guide
- The key weapons for the game are locked behind hidden chapters and you straight up can't finish the game if you miss even one
- Boring characters with uninteresting designs
- 2/3 of the way through and not a single interesting thing has happened storywise
- Lilina
- Long boring maps, no variety in map goals
- It does have supports...but they're not good so it feels like a waste of time
