why is this game so readily available? did it sell well for the PlayStation because people thought it was going to be the next Mario for the console not knowing that it was a supposed to be a 3DO mascot or something?

I beat Gex (PSX emulator) in one sitting just now. Growing up with the game on 3DO it was like the best game ever (especially due to how rarely the disc would work). The feelings of each world with their music, especially the last 2 worlds, invoke such a fundamental feeling in me, probably because I first played this when everything in life was still all new and fresh, and this is one of the few games in early childhood that I haven't revisited often.
Also I remember a vague memory of a secret world, but the memory is so vague that it could just be a dream similar to all the dreams of A Link To The Past or Super Mario World having more areas to discover... except just now I looked it up and holy crap that memory is real. @_@

Anyway, it's been like 16 years since I've last played this game or seen any parts past the first world, so it was an incredibly nostalgic experience -- a nostalgia that felt exceptionally visceral compared to most of my nostalgia nowadays. Despite knowing how technically not so good of a game it is, it's definitely a 5/5 for me personally (after muting Gex's voice). It doesn't even feel right to give it a score though. It's just a very special game to me.

One of these years I'll find a way to revisit it on 3DO and attempt to 100% it.
