Limbo-Like That's Definitely Worth Your Time
White Shadows at first glance looks just like another Limbo spinoff. It's a side scrolling puzzle platformer with a strictly black and white aesthetic. Don't let that turn you away though, as I would put this game up there with some of the best games of that genre since Limbo itself.

White Shadows at first glance looks just like another Limbo spinoff. It's a side scrolling puzzle platformer with a strictly black and white aesthetic. Don't let that turn you away though, as I would put this game up there with some of the best games of that genre since Limbo itself.
White Shadows has you playing as a 'Ravengirl', trudging through a dystopian world full of real world issues such as racism, hatred, slavery, among others. There's nothing too intense or grotesque, but enough to make you feel uneasy playing as a character facing all these issues. There are some really good looking and interesting set pieces throughout, though there's nothing too new here that hasn't been done elsewhere.
If striving to just complete the game, you can probably finish it in just a little over 2 hours though aiming for 100% took me around 4 hours. There is a checkpoint system that you can go back to replay sections aiming for the other achievements if you'd like.
What White Shadows does best I feel is it's story telling. It's subtle and apart from a section towards the end that does a "history" type lesson, it doesn't force feed you what's going on. You have to pay attention to signs, to what's going on in the background, put together what you're seeing in your head to figure out what's going on in this world.
The puzzles here aren't really difficult at all, and I can't recall being stuck on any one of them more than maybe a few seconds. Don't let that stop you from trying out this excellent game that frequently goes on sale to a pretty cheap price!
