The game looks good, plays well, runs smoothly, and overall works very nicely for some quick pick-up-and-play action on-the-go. I really liked how many different weapon types there were, and all the ways the power-ups affected each weapon. You get to feel really powerful in this one! It's definitely one of the easiest shooters I've played, but I think that's acceptable when the game had a small screen to work with. Could've used more background and enemy variety, but limitations are what they were.

Good looking vertical shooter a bit on the easy side.

Platform:

Game Gear version.

Graphics/Sound:

The graphics are pretty awesome for a limited 8-bit system like the Game Gear. This looks better than almost any Gameboy Colour game I've seen, and this is a lot older. Still some of the levels look a bit bland (level 7 especially). The sound is ok, but didn't leave an impression.

The graphics are pretty awesome for a limited 8-bit system like the Game Gear. This looks better than almost any Gameboy Colour game I've seen, and this is a lot older. Still some of the levels look a bit bland (level 7 especially). The sound is ok, but didn't leave an impression.

Gameplay:

The Gameplay is pretty straighforward Compile shmup with no surprises whatsoever. Doesn't mean it's bad, in fact it's very solid. The enemy cast is limited but every enemy seems distinct enough that you feel variety. The weapons are strong enough to dash through the enemies and feel powerful. There is a few different weapons to choose from, almost all of which I have found to be useful, but in the end I think the heat seeker shot worked best for me.

Difficulty:

For a shmup this game is very easy. Maybe too easy. On one hand you always die by one hit, but when you restart you haven't lost all powerups, only one step. Moreover, there was virtually no difficulty increase throughout the game. The second last boss I could literally beat by staying in one position and holding the fire button. There was only one boss in the middle of the game that seemed almost unbeatable because it was invincible from almost every direction.

Conclusion:

It's a nice little shmup, recommended for people who want to get into the genre. For pros, however, this is too easy.
