Each level of this abstract puzzler challenges the player to set up a network of pipes to allow an unspecified substance known as 'flooz' to flow through as many of those as possible. The pieces are offered in random order, and there are seven different types - straight lines going horizontally or vertically, corners rotating in each of the four directions, and cross-over pieces which carry the flooz straight across horizontally and vertically. Each of these can be entered from either side. When the flooz hits a gap, or a piece which the previous piece can't flow into, the pipe … More

Each of these can be entered from either side. When the flooz hits a gap, or a piece which the previous piece can't flow into, the pipe is finished. Before the flooz starts flowing from its randomly-selected starting position, the player has several seconds to start placing pieces. They can be put down anywhere. However a situation that can often occur is there will be a long and complex piping arrangement set up, yet a gap somewhere remains to be filled. Players are able to replace a piece with another in the same square (to make it easier to flow the flooz that way), but for a slight scoring penalty. Less

A Childhood Go-To That Surprisingly Held Up, Even If Mediocre Look & Insanely Difficult Final Levels
This review is for the Amiga version

Preliminary: I played the Windows version of this soooo much, like Chip's Challenge too. Hopefully the original Amiga version holds up.

Boo, I thought there was a way to turn the pieces of the pipe, but per the Amiga manual, it does not seem to be true.

At first I was unsure but yea this is as addictive as I remember lol. Maybe not worth more than an hour's play but uh, yea looks like I will be playing it for a bit indeed!

Day 1

Even with it being different from what I remember, this is so fun! What is so addictive about it. You get such close calls. The settings are changing, now I'm in a fish world?, but for the most part the Look is just whatever. The Sound has a nice hype to it. But it's really the Play that shines and hooks you in here.

All the playthrough videos I pulled up of this version don't seem to understand it. It's too bad. Because if you get the idea, it's a lot of fun! I can't seem to find any info on how many levels there are, that's how I ended up on playthrough videos. …

All the playthrough videos I pulled up of this version don't seem to understand it. It's too bad. Because if you get the idea, it's a lot of fun! I can't seem to find any info on how many levels there are, that's how I ended up on playthrough videos. I hope it's not too many.

I didn't really put much effort in the bonus levels, nor into gaining points, but loving the main game levels. I just love the close calls. I was stuck on Level 11 for a while, but finally got it. Still wish I knew how many there are, and now I have to shower, but I am happy this one clung to me more than the original Chip's Challenge did! Even if it's quite different from the Windows one I have nostalgia for. I don't see any info for anything past level 28, so I will shoot for level 28 and if there are more unique ones, I will end at 30. I like to have a set goal! (Oh, perfect, just read there are 36 unique levels. seems doable timewise, tho might get insanely difficult!)

(So I got to play more after shower, and I am now on Level 19 where it introduces the End pieces. You also have to do the number of steps it says, so that kinda stinks, I was all proud that I connected the Start to the End ha. Let's try that again. Says a lot that I'm so into this, by far the most I've gotten into a puzzle game in a long time)

Alright I got all the way to Level 26 and not losing any momentum, but it's movie time. Wow!

Day 2

I was a bit worn out from a long day and Phasmophobia, and I wound up quite stuck on Level 28. So close!

It took my blood sweat and tears (lol) but I got through Level 28!

Level 31 took me sooo many tries and then I got Level 32 on my first try :-p

Really, it wasn't much fun by level 34, it made me feel so tired lol, but I was too close to stop then. By the end of level 35, I had fully grown sick of the song. It's too bad I'm so obsessed with playing games to the end, because I absolutely loved this up until that point. Often the overly hard (understandably but still) final levels of a game burn me out. Imagine that haha.

I wish I could've gotten a screenshot of the ridiculous meandering I had to do for level 35 but my computer is being foolish. I managed to snap a screenshot of the meandering for Level 36 but it wasn't as ridiculous (rng plays a big role in this Amiga version, as many have noted, since you get a random selection/order of pieces to put together) enter image description here

Look: 7/10 Nothing special. Not terrible. I kinda like the blue/yellow fish levels tho most people diss them.

Sound: 8/10 I mostly loved the Sound but then over time it got a bit annoying. Good jingle when you get to the hiscores. The Sound does add a lot to the panic of the water coming at you so maybe this should be boosted to an 8 hmm.

Play: 8.5/10 The final levels were super difficult but that's why they are final levels. I am trying to hold on to the first 30ish levels where I nonstop had fun, panicked at the sound of the "Flooz" er I prefer water coming, and felt really good at it compared to playthroughs available online. I wonder if I will ever move on from having to play all the unique levels or completely beat a game to act like it deserves a high Play score, that's not really fair for a few different reasons. and why not have players "reach for the stars" on the very late levels... I dunno. Still frustrates me haha.

Feel: 9/10 Despite the Sound and Look not being as good as I remember the Windows one's being, it still accumulates into a great Feel. A free game I always had on my home computer, a game I could turn to, and it turns out a game I still would get hooked to as an adult. Surprised by that.

Attachment: 9/10 Not only is it relevant in my life as a game of nostalgia and still held up as an adult, but also puzzle games are not a favorite of mine. So have to give recognition to one of the standout ones that have impacted my life despite this aversion.

Overall: 8.3/10

Completion: All unique levels.

Playtime: ~2 hours

Little Kid Goggles, Activate!

This was one of the first puzzle games for gameboy that I owned as a kid. This is also one of the first games I remember that I wanted to throw said gameboy through a wall. I bet it's not as bad as I remember, but I always sucked at patterns as a kid. So boom.

One of the first puzzle games I owned. I remember the flowing ooze adding a real element of excitement, bordering on anxiety.
