From an interface design standpoint, Pilgrims may be Amanita's strongest game. Many of the pain points associated with "point-and-click" adventure games… pixel hunting, slow movement, inventory management… are elegantly streamlined here.
But somehow, the results aren't quite as satisfying. Those moments of payoff I've come to expect from the genre feel diminished here, possibly because it moves so quickly: I breezed through the whole game in 45 minutes without a walkthrough.
I had fun playing Pilgrims, and I recommend it if you're an Apple Arcade subscriber. But it's definitely an appetizer, not a main course.
6/10 Jeu sympa, très facile, se finit en 45 mn. Narratif avec des petits puzzles, vibe à la Story Teller.
This was such a fun adventure puzzle game! The story was not overly confusing and it was so fun to explore all the wacky scenarios you could make happen. It is short which is perfect because, even though it is not required for you to collect all the cards in your deck, it takes a handful of playthroughs where you test out different approaches to solving the puzzles to fully complete the deck and 100% the game. I really loved how it encourages you to use your imagination and try anything you can think of. The art is wacky and unique as well and it fit the tone of the game so well. A great light puzzle game for fans of the genre!
Graphics were super cute and characters were fun. The fact that i speak czech so i understood parts of otherwise unintelligible dialogs was a cherry on top :D I ended up playing the game 4 times in a row to get all the achievements and im not even sorry :D
Pilgrims is another adventure game from Amanita design which attempts to make the puzzle-solving more organic an open than the “only 1 key fits” design of most adventure games. This made it easier to progress in the game, as solutions to puzzles were a bit easier work out, but I was still left in situations expecting a solution I had in mind to work only for the game to say it wasn’t valid. I liked the art style quite a bit and appreciate how the game expresses character motivations and emotions without ever using dialogue but still don’t like the genre.

By the Machinarium, Samorost and Chuchel devs! My girlfriend raced ahead with it before I even entered the room. I had to play it again after we completed it, purely because each puzzle had multiple solutions I needed to see through!
Really recommend this one.
