Its very short but it kinda had to be to not overstay its welcome. I saw several bugs, some causing me to die, but you never respawn far from where you were so its not too big of a deal. The puzzles are okay, had a few "AHA!" Moments. The visuals are great and takes great advantage of the dark unknown of the deep ocean but I wouldn't call any part of it "scary". Maybe a little spooky for some but its mild. It might look like "Limbo" and "Inside" but its mostly just based on looks and style.
Speaking of, perfect segue.
The art of the game is very minimalistic until you get to the "Machine". A sort of teleporter/hub area. The art in this place is amazing and fascinating, a mix of what looks like native American spirit animal wood carvings and nautical ship art. Its very well mixed, though im too dumb to understand the meaning behind the story.
You spend the game swimming slowly and possessing different fish to solve puzzles. It was good for what it was, even though I got a little bored by the end.
Silt is mostly a puzzle game that takes place underwater, done in a style not far away from Limbo. The main gimmick of the game is the possess mechanic - the player can possess different marine creatures, each with their own ability. It's a short game that takes the player through 4 distinct regions, each with new life forms to possess and play with, and each ending with a unique boss.
The sound design of Silt is superb. It really conveys the feeling of being deep underwater, heavily contributing to the atmosphere of the game.
I'm not a fan of the storytelling. The game supposedly has a story, which the player is required to figure out all by themselves without any dialogues. While that concept itself is great, I don't think this game is captivating enough to present it well. Don't take my word for it, though - maybe your experience will differ.
If you're looking for something to kill 3-5 hours with, give Silt a try. I'm sure you'll find some enjoyment.
