Simple, elegant and beautiful. Gorogoa is a gorgeous piece of video game art that places the player in a world of stunning hand illustrated images, layered one upon another, that create depth and movement through the visual arrangement of two dimensional space. The game is short but deeply satisfying and a joy to play. It may not suit every gamer’s personal sensibilities, but I doubt anyone can deny Gorogoa’s masterful artistry.
This is stellar on ever level - amazing animation, concept, puzzles, and totally unique. Truly think everyone should try it, it’s very memorable and worth the play.
This was such a great game. The artwork was splendid, everytime something moved or conected my reaction was constantly “woa”
Such a beatifuly made puzzle. I could Play this my whole life.
I’m sure whoever made Gorogoa is some sort of mad insufferable genius like Alan Moore but like Alan Moore I am just so happy they exist. Gorogoa is an incredibly unique puzzle game with an abstract story and a gorgeous art style, and it’s unique puzzle mechanics are so cool. Play this game if you like puzzles.
You might be frustrated at points during this game, but don't cheat! It will be worth it when you finally have that ah ha moment. What an unusual puzzle game. I appreciate that each level brought something fresh while still having fairly simple game mechanics. Sometimes short indie puzzlers feel like by the time you figured the mechanics out the game is over. Gorogoa gives just enough help that you can figure things out if you keep trying or take a break when you're stuck. I whiled away a few hours w this weekend in this gorgeous game and felt like I was stepping between medieval manuscripts, and Escher-like imagination/dream, and someone's diary.
Gorogoa is one of those rare games that makes you go "Huh, how did they pull that off?". It's not that it's as mind-bending as games like Viewfinder or Superliminal, which kind of makes you question reality, but more so that it's amazing the level of 2D puzzle craftmanship - as well as stunning art - that's on display here. My girlfriend and I played it together in (almost) one sitting, with her having the controller the whole way through, but that didn't lessen the experience at all for me. What a gem. 100% recommend this game to gamers and non-gamers alike.
A masterpiece. I don't know why it took so long for me to finally play the game.
This puzzle game is unique in its clever design, telling a visual story about a person who has to gather 5 fruits for a ritual in connection with a mythical creature.
The puzzle layout allows you to move, alter and change perspective of the scene's pictures. The puzzles themselves can appear subtle but are intuitive enough to let you figure out solutions. I only felt nearly stumped 2-3 times but made it through, getting "A-ha" moments that would satisfy majorly puzzle and casual fans alike.
The graphics are gorgeous, being hand-drawn single-handedly by Jason Roberts, which is a praise-worthy achievement. I finished the game in 2 hours with optional contents included. Although it seems short, the content's quality justifies its retail price. Warmly recommended!
A short, beautiful puzzle with incredible visuals, immersive sound design, and an amazing story telling mechanic. I wish it was longer!
Wonderful art style, smart mechanics, lovely story, perfectly suited for mobile play. This is really a great game, as good as they say.
Very interesting puzzle game, with a unique concept that is well explored (rearranging tiles so their elements interact with each other, through time and space.. it's better seen in action.) Story is interesting and quite beautiful, though it seems to be very vague/metaphorical I've been giving it quite some thought after finishing. Quick game, challenging in the cool way. The art is really good, especially knowing the whole thing was hand-drawn. The panels flow seamlessly between various environments, colors and objects. Very worth a play
7/10 Très court (2 heures max) mais très sympa, ça revisite vraiment le genre du puzzle 2D. En plus c’est très beau. Bon j’ai rien compris à l’histoire mais ça on s’en fout.
While Gorogoa is an amazing experience, it’s a very brief one with little to no replay unless you’re chasing the few achievements you missed the first time through, or you may really want to experience it again afterwards with a better grasp of its mechanics. As a puzzle game, it’s unique, interesting and absolutely gorgeous. It’s obvious that Gorogoa was a labor of love, and it shows. Mechanically it’s ingenious and what it lacks in length, it makes up in quality. Quality over quantity is the perfect slogan for this unique puzzler that I’ll remember for quite sometime.
A fun little puzzle game. I really liked the game mechanics. At times I struggled with the puzzles, but except for the end of the 5th fruit I didn't have to look anything up.
I wouldn't consider this a game strictly speaking, but it was a great little puzzle experience.
I felt utterly dumb at points in playing, until I figured out what the game was expected of me and I felt superiorly brilliant. The puzzles weren't too difficult overall, but sometimes it was just a matter of clicking around until things made sense.
I think it would make an excellent mobile experience and am glad that I didn't play for this stand-alone, since it came with GamePass.
Overall, I'd play it if you're looking for a nice experience, but don't expect anything too involved.

Short and simple puzzle game included in Game Pass. It takes less than 2 hours to complete, no guide needed. It looks beautiful and it has some of those "Aha!" moments that I love in puzzle games. I didn't feel engaged by the narrative, but it's a good game overall.
Just as I'm writing this I noticed that it was also available on iPad, which seems like the best way to play it, honestly. Give it a try!
While I enjoyed Gorogoa, I can't say I loved it. I recall playing the demo in 2012 and being super excited. It's beautiful, and I enjoyed the somber tone, and overall puzzle design. It's just that the puzzles themselves didn't resonate with me. It wasn't particularly difficult, but with a lot of them I didn't get that "aha!" moment that the Portal devs spoke about. I got the "Oh, you could click that?" moment instead. A lot of them felt hollow as a result. I didn't feel like I solved them because of my own skill, but rather because I experimented enough. Which, I guess, in this game IS the skill. Again, it's not bad at all. Short (which at this point in my life I love), and worth a play if you like puzzle games. It's just not the knockout I had hoped it'd be.
I ordered this from iam8bit a year ago, but it was tied up with my Kentucky Route Zero preorder, so it has been a long painful wait.
This game is fucking great. Gorgeous artwork and a very clever core concept. Annapurna's list of game releases are all games I either love or just haven't played yet. Their logo is a real seal of quality for me.
I'm still undecided how I feel about this game. It's really cool, but I find the controls obtuse.
I suspect it plays better on larger screens. Currently not recommended on mobile.
Great unique puzzle game on the iPad. Gets wonderfully complex and interesting in the last two big puzzles before the final one as it plays with perspective in really cool ways. A real “a-ha! moment” type of game without entering frustrating or overly long territory. I feel dumb for letting it sit in the backlog for so long, but better late than never!
If you like puzzle type games with a bit of a Monument Valley vibe about them then I can really recommend Gorogoa. It’s not very long (a couple of hours maybe), but that can be a good thing, quality over quantity etc. It plays very well on an iPad, which in my opinion adds to the chill-out factor. It took the developer 6 years to make it and it’s clear that it’s a real labour of love.
Another game on my highly anticipated list. The hand drawn panels are beautiful and the puzzles are elegantly designed. The pannel matching mechanic is quite satisfying. Gorogoa is already is running high on my list of favourite games of 2017.
