Picked it up almost immediatelly after Carlos from So, Videogames podcast defined it as "a new Dragon Age". First impressions:

  1. Very happy that there's magic.
  2. The pseudo 17th century aesthetic is a nice change of pace from the usual medieval setting in fantasy RPGs.

Played a bunch of Greedfall, I got through the first area and got into the real beginning of the game(post title screen). Game has been pretty fun, I love the quest design but the story and characters so far are not great. Love how everyone is voiced. I wasn't expecting that from a budget game. Even playing on PS4 Pro the game looks great. I have some issue with the walking animations and some of the other animations in this game. They look very XBOX 360/PS3 era. Also, some of the facial animations while talking can look funky. But overall, pretty impressed. My biggest problem so far is that I don't want to play that beginning portion of this game in ANY WAY ever again. Which maybe ruling out another playthrough on PC in the future. Oh well, maybe the Greedfall definitive edition or something next year. LOL. Anyway, I would wait for a sale for this one. Probably around $30, would be good. Or if it comes to Game Pass or something like that.

My second day into this. I've explored and completed every side quest I've encountered so far... and I love it, i've loved every second of it. For now it's a 4 stars game but considering their budget... it's clearly a 6 out of 5 stars game. Here the things I didn't love:

  • the graphics: they are more than correct but not as good as other rpg games these days. Buuuut they are more than correct and with that budget they are breathtaking.

  • the combat: this is the main issue I have with this game. It feels better than it looks and, as the graphics, it serves it purpose correctly. But the first sneak peek I saw of this game made me think it was going to be more like the Witcher 3 and, while it's a mixture of its gameplay and Dragon Age 1/2, that mixture doesn't work as well as those two systems separated.

And that's it, that's the only things I did not love of this game. Not the bad points, the things that were not perfect as the rest of the game.

I wish you great success with this game Spiders, you do deserve it.

The gameplay is a bit obtuse, but I absolutely love this world, the lore, & look. Granted I was hoping for a more 18th century British, colonial, or military look regarding costumes, but the early 17th century, European look is still cool & unique.
