Abuse resembles a side-scrolling platform game. The game is marked for its unusual control scheme: The keyboard is used to move Nick, while the mouse is used for aiming the weapons. The basic gameplay consists of fighting various enemies (mostly the various forms of mutants, who prefer to attack in huge swarms) and solving some simple puzzles, most involving switches.

Good Control Scheme Bogged Down By Meh Look And Swarm-As-Difficulty Design

The Look is meh for its time, tho smooth, but the controls were the real highlight. It was a nice way of combining mouse and keyboard control for a side scroller and is what kept me playing through 2 stations. But uh, the relianceon swarms became just lame and un-fun. I had a feeling when it was described as intense, and is of the side scrolling shmup lineage. But worth noting its solid controls! And for fans of Contra etc this should be played!

Look: 7/10 Boost for looking like Alien/Predator

Sound: 7/10 Good atmosphere

Play: 7.5/10 Great controls worthy of a higher score, and the whole first part I liked opening doors and the smooth controls and shooting away, but it relies far too much on the more enemies = difficult concept for design, rather than actually making clever and difficult situations.

Feel: 7/10

Attachment: 7.5/10

Overall: 7.2/10
