Just make it a smash clone.
I think if the devs had decided to commit to making it a Smash clone it would have been a much more enjoyable game. The KO mechanic was simply not fun. Building up a meter with the chance of wiffing your big attack is so silly. Not to mention certain characters having insanely powerful KO moves compared to others.

I do hope that down the road this kind of PlayStation brawler type game gets given another chance, but until then I'll be playing Smash Ultimate.
