My GOD why are physical copies of Evil West like 70 dollars??? It released in November 2022 but still. It's on sale for 23 dollars on Xbox digital right now and it's so tempting but part of that is only cause it's literally unobtainable in physical form.

Really hate to say it, but this game kinda blows.
Not even 30 minutes in, I was already bored, but one simple thing kills my ability to enjoy it: Terrible controls and no way to re-map them.
Let's be crystal clear here. Releasing a game any time after like 2015 without custom control binding is unacceptable. Yes, I know I …

Let's be crystal clear here. Releasing a game any time after like 2015 without custom control binding is unacceptable. Yes, I know I can go into the PS5 menu and do custom bindings, but then the screen icons don't match the inputs.
Whoever up and decided that R1 is just "supposed to be" the melee attack button in modern action games needs a brick to the head. It never, ever feels right, it's awkward as shit to use, and I immediately switch that shit to Square/X the first chance I get. But the controls in this game in particular have you using R1 to attack, X to dodge, and... Fucking R3 to parry.
This controls are shit and I'm not even going to pretend they're not. Can't rebind them, a custom controller profile is too much hassle, so fuck this game.
Skip this one and buy Darkwatch instead. It's not exactly high art, but it's better than this.

Inoffensive Game Pass fodder. If I'd paid $25 for this I'd have been disappointed, but it's got a decent combat system wrapped around a straightforward linear campaign. I've heard people call this "God of War with guns", but it feels more like a Gears game to me. Would have been a better time if I didn't hate Jesse's personality.

I've decided to put Baldur's Gate 3 on hold. I bought a new laptop, becuase I was getting tired of half my playtime being with Play-Doh characters in an open void while my computer got hot enough to broil a chicken.
Once the new one comes in, I'll finish act 3. Until then, I'm trying Evil West because it was …

This game is the beautiful lovechild of Devil May Cry and Doom.

Oh boy, we now have Weird West and Evil West.
We've gotten ourselves into another Outer Wilds, The Outer Worlds situation.
