Main game

I'm a huge adventure game fan (especially point-and-click ones), so I was excited to try this one after reading the description. I should note that I've never read the graphic novels at all, so this is coming from a newcomer to the series. Overall, very disappointed and wish I could get a refund. I could not bring myself to finish the game, and didn't enjoy the time I did spend playing it.
Pros:
Cons:
Weird negotiation/conversation mechanics. You will need to talk to a client to get to the bottom of what they're after...this will involve you asking a question, picking the wrong way to respond, having Pizzaboy comment that you've chosen the wrong way to respond, then going back to square one with the same set of questions available to you again. So you do it again, possibly respond the wrong way again...it starts to feel like you're going in circles, and is not fun. …

So you do it again, possibly respond the wrong way again...it starts to feel like you're going in circles, and is not fun. There is clearly only ONE correct way to engage in every conversation, and if you mess up they just present the exact same dialogue options again until you get it right. I want a story where I can actually say the zany things and see where it takes the story, not have the developers force me to choose "correctly" by pure trial-and-error.
Flat characters. I assume the game creators felt the players would already have some sense of the characters due to this being a comic series, which led to them not doing a ton of character development in the game itself. I have not read the series, so know nothing about them. After playing the game several hours, I still know nothing about them (other than that they are all sort of a**holes, I mean).
Sub-par voice acting. The voice actors are boring and don't seem into the material at all. For example, there is a scene where the character is drawn to indicate they are screaming in horror, but the voice actor is barely even talking louder than normal and with zero urgency in their voice. Dialogue is EVERYTHING in a point-and-click game, so falling short here does not bode well for the other areas of the game.
Extremely lazy writing/humor. Also pretty offensive....and not in some subversive or tongue-in-cheek way to comment on its absurdity, but just straight up ignorant. Within the first 20 minutes of gameplay, the jokes are basically as follows: Haha this guy is really fat! Haha that woman is transgender! Haha, again, this guy is really fat in case you forgot when I joked about it three minutes ago! This is not humor, this is just lazy. And that's all there is to it - no actual wit or creativity whatsoever, just junior-high level comedic mediocrity. (Oh and did I mention how the second location you visit is Chinatown, and you literally can't see anyone's eyes because they just drew them as slants? I mean...seriously?)
Overall, just really sub-par all around. There are so many amazing adventure games available, this one is not worth your time or money.
