Me: what?! that's the ending we're getting?! Seriously??

Also me: Sophia was cool. Would like to know more about them. Usual post-completion Google search Oh! That's cool, they are.

Let me preface by saying, I only played 1/6th of the game, and then watched the rest, for reasons I will get into below. I played Plague Tale 1 almost 6 years (!!) before this one which is crazy to think about, but through that time I did remember a decent amount of the plot (and I watched a recap too). To start with what I like, the environment and sound design of the game were fantastic, the landscapes and booming music were really cool and well done. I also think two of the main characters that join the crew were also pretty cool. Outside of that, I don't think the game was bad in any aspect, but I didn't really find it great in other aspects.

To first start with the gameplay, it's fine, but it's just too simplistic. The stealth sections and the puzzles aren't bad, but I just don't find them that great. Outside of that, the combat (only in like combat only sections, I don't mean in like stealth sections where you got to kill a guy) just feels kind of janky, and in general the game feels like it's lacking a slight bit of polish, not sure how to explain it. The running, animations, and the like very boring pushing cart or holding a button events just don't feel all the way good.

The story for this game is pretty eh, Amecia and Hugo head to this crazy dream island and then it turns out the island isn't like that important except for the fact that it's where the Macula first started which like could be interesting but I didn't super care for how they talked about it. The cult and stuff on the island could have been cool, but it felt too out of nowhere, especially when the Mom and Lucas make it to the island and then like 10 minutes later the cult mother is killing Hugo's mother. IDK I wouldn't go as far as saying it was a bad story, but I don't think it was really that good either.

Overall, I kind of mixed things I felt while playing and from while I was watching the rest of the game on YT, but I honestly felt while watching that I wasn't missing that much just because of how slow and meh the gameplay was looking. I don't think this was a bad game though, I think in the end for me it is like a high 6/10.

I don't want to experience this game again. Both the games stopped me from consuming anything for entertainment for a week. That's how sad I felt after finishing the duology.

That being said, I am not good enough with words to do this game justice. So, here are a few lines from Robert Frost for the siblings, especially King Hugo: …

That being said, I am not good enough with words to do this game justice. So, here are a few lines from Robert Frost for the siblings, especially King Hugo:

Nature's first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf’s a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief. So, dawn goes down today. Nothing gold can stay.

Just finished chapter 4 of A Plague Tale: Requiem. I think I’ll see it to the end, but I find the stealth/combat and puzzles frustrating. I don’t remember being this frustrated with the first one, but it’s been a while since I played it. The graphics are nice and the story is okay so I’ll keep at it.

I'm glad Humble Choice has an easy option to skip a month, but it does feel like the number of months I skip is exponentially higher than the number of months I redeem.

Good storyline and characters development but kinda boring gameplay like the 1st game. Gonna play the 3rd game still.

Too much whining, not enough rat controlling. The last third of the game was a fun ride though.

Woof, this is poorly optimized. Even on the lowest settings I’m getting massive screen tearing on PC, something I don’t see in much more graphically intense games.
