Decent remake
Judging this game as a remake of the 1981 original rather than on the standards that the original set, this is pretty good. Judging this game as a remake of the 1981 original rather than on the standards that the original set, this is pretty good. It was damn frustrating in the ways that it constantly clawed back your progress with level drains and insta-kill attacks of your characters but that was feature in the original. This game kept that frustration but 1) offered modern graphics that added a level of fun and 2) allows saves to be copied so you can effectively reload an old save if you suddenly permanently lost the character you'd spent hours leveling up.
In the end, I beat Werdna but even that took 4 reloads because the entire battle was dependent on luck, from the number of enemies appearing to the initiative order in combat.
It's probably more worth it if you want to experience an old game updated than for its pure fun value.
