I've never been able to get into other monster collecting type games (the newest DQM is in my backlog), but this one has me hooked. Really digging the style and the vibe of this world. Exploration is fun, engaging, and rewarding. The areas are large without feeling overwhelming (looking at you, TotK), and I love constantly changing my party based on what demons I see roaming around. I'm liking the OST enough to listen to it between play sessions, as well.
I've heard complaints about the story and, if that's what one values most from an RPG, I could see how one could be disappointed. I do love a good story, but I'm appreciating the minimalistic approach taken here. Sometimes it's nice to play an RPG rather than watch one.
Now...back to Da'at.

This game takes a little bit of time to get going but once it does, baby, this is Pokemon for adults. I don't just mean aesthetically (although trading cutesy Pokemon out for Demons is a smart move if you are looking to bring in grown ups)- the combat system requires engagement, the battles require exploration, and the demon-fusion requires consideration. …

I don't just mean aesthetically (although trading cutesy Pokemon out for Demons is a smart move if you are looking to bring in grown ups)- the combat system requires engagement, the battles require exploration, and the demon-fusion requires consideration. Even the creature collection feels a bit more adult as forming bonds is more nebulous and personal than just capturing creatures in a stasis ball. This game is just pumping with bulbous mechanisms for a tinkerer like me. You might think a game for adults would be difficult, but not necessarily. You can always grind and make the game baby-easy. So you can have a low-stress "decompress your mind" experience if you want and that is what I want.

How long is this intro? I've started this game three times and not made it through. I imagine if I do, this game is very much my kinda thing (I like Pokemon and Persona 5), but maybe I just need to adjust my expectations.

Currently just before the first big boss. Pretty fun so far! I prefer playing a game like this on TV so I'm enjoying it a little more than SMTIV (the only other SMT I 've played, got about halfway through), but that game is definitely more atmospheric and seems to have a more interesting story.

This was one of my all-time favorite games…. Until I encountered a technical glitch that froze the game and sent me back to the last save point. I was so angry about losing progress through no fault of my own, and I did not want to re-do that section, so, regrettably, I stopped playing. A real shame because I truly …

A real shame because I truly loved the game and was pushing 100 hours invested in it. I’d like to return to it but I’m still mad… I’ll have to stop being mad first…!

Finally started playing this last week. I've defeated the first boss on "normal" difficulty. Had to turn that down a notch for the second boss.
I'm in love with the music, the atmosphere, the Netherworld and the aesthetic. The demons, the lore, the animations, the combat system, it's all there.
With SMTV it feels as if "min-maxing" is the videogame. …

My main gripes are...
With Elden Ring on the horizon, I doubt I'll be spending a lot more time with SMTV.

I have mixed feelings about this game so far. Persona 5 is one of my favorite games ever, but I never played any main line SMT. I like this game, but it is missing the personality that kept me invested in Persona for 3 playthroughs. I may come back to this in the future, but for now returns to the …

Traded a few Switch games for Metroid and SMT V.
I'm slightly worried about the performance issues, but I decided to double down and just get the physical copy and we'll see how it works when we play it.

I remember Age of Calamity being really unplayable for me. I hope Shin Megami Tensei V runs better. I've had a passion and interest in this series for years. The music, the aesthetic, the atmosphere.
This might be the first SMT game I ever finish. But Metroid Dread is up first :)

Just finished sucking the 3rd area dry of all the stuff to do there (Miman, item chests, quests and Big Boy enemies), now to go back to the story, i wonder how big the next area is going to be

I'm still finishing Ni No Kuni II though, and I was even considering completing everything in that game. On top of that there's a great deal for a physical copy of Neo: The World Ends With You this week that I was certain this morning I'll be ordering today. I also wanted to get back to Hades as I'm currently reading The Song of Achilles, and I want more of Achilles and Patroclus. I never finished their side story in that game. I'm thinking of giving Stardew Valley another chance as well because I'm itching for a farming life simulation and really, this is a game that should be working for me. Of course let's not forget Animal Crossing, with its recent update and DLC, which up until now I haven't opened yet because once I get to that I have low hopes I'll be touching another game for a while. At least I can't say my brain is making me not want to do anything this time around.
