Each character occupies the same screen but they run along on different planes. Crash's gameplay is mostly the same as before, he can still do his trademark spin attack, double jump and body slam moves. The originality comes in his duo with Dr. Cortex, as he can throw him to places he can't reach himself or use him as a hammer to slap enemies. The consistent conflict between both heroes causes many funny situations. Read less

This is more or less the general consensus of Crash Twinsanity. Changing the series routes to a linear adventure platformer instead of something level based like previous 0games, while also having much more open level design. A unique soundtrack and a strong visual style ensure the game is quite nice to experience, and the gameplay is overall pretty decent despite some bugs and unpolished platform design. It's also damn funny and the "Fish?" cutscene has lived rent free in my head for around a decade at this point.

That said, the game is far too short for what is offered, and doesn't have any replay value. When the game is difficult, it's often unfair, and when it's easy it's usually overly so. It tries to do far too much at once in nearly every department, through plot, settings, characters, etc. Crash 4 implements some of the same concepts through its multiple characters but that game is far more polished (albeit more safe and uninteresting). Plot wise forcing Cortex and Crash to work together is a good idea but the antagonists are completely unremarkable and are actually barely in the game.

It's a disappointing title but it might end up still being my favorite Crash game because of its vibes.

Not Bad, Just VERY Unfinished

What's on display here is a very solid and creative Crash title that given the proper time and care during development could have been something amazing, unfortunately though, the devs were rushed, so what's on display here is an unfinished, short and buggy glimpse into what could have been one of the best Crash games in the series å
