Morcys's review of Attack of the Friday Monsters! A Tokyo Tale

A journey into the childhood of a Japanese child, The most charming walking simulator I have ever played. The game is short, but I think it's just the right length for a game of this nature.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in a world where giant monsters appear every Friday? If so, you might enjoy Attack of the Friday Monsters: A Tokyo Tale, a charming and nostalgic adventure game that explores the power of imagination and childhood.

The game follows Sohta, a young boy who lives in a small suburb of Tokyo in the 1970s. His town is home to a TV station that airs a weekly "Kaiju" monster show, which fascinates Sohta and his friends. As you play through a day in his life, you will interact with various characters and witness strange events that will make you question the reality of the Kaiju.

The gameplay is very simple and relaxing. You can move around the town freely and talk to people, who will give you clues or tasks to advance the story. You can also collect cards and play a card game with other kids, which is fun and rewarding. The game does not have any combat or puzzles, which might disappoint some players who are looking for more challenge or variety. However, the game does not need any superfluous gameplay elements to convey its message. It is …

You can also collect cards and play a card game with other kids, which is fun and rewarding. The game does not have any combat or puzzles, which might disappoint some players who are looking for more challenge or variety. However, the game does not need any superfluous gameplay elements to convey its message. It is a story-based game that focuses on the narrative and the atmosphere.

The graphics and sound are beautiful and nostalgic. The game has a colorful and detailed art style that resembles a Ghibli film. The characters are expressive and lively, and the environments are rich and immersive, invoking the intoxicating bucolic atmosphere that makes Ghibli-esque things so enticing. The music is soothing and fitting for the mood of the game, and the voice acting is in Japanese with English subtitles, which adds to its authenticity and charm.

The game is very short, lasting only about three hours. However, it is also very satisfying and memorable. The game has a simple but engaging story that will make you smile and feel nostalgic. It has a clear and strong message about the importance of imagination and childhood, and how they can help us cope with reality. The game is reminiscent of the famous "My Summer Vacation" series of games by Level 5 and Millennium Kitchen, which have a similar style and theme.

Attack of the Friday Monsters: A Tokyo Tale is a delightful game that captures the magic and wonder of being a kid in 1970s Japan. It has a simple but engaging story, a relaxing and intuitive gameplay, and a beautiful and nostalgic art style. If you are looking for a game that will make you smile and feel nostalgic, this is the one for you.

Cute little slice-of-life game.
This review is for the Nintendo 3DS eShop version

A charming game in which we wander around a little village interacting with people. The story is cute, even if short. Challenge is almost non-existent except for the completion of the deck (post-credits) and a couple of errands, also post-credits, that require guessing the order of interactions.

The story has a few nice surprises and the dialogue makes you crave for more.

❶ I can't recall everything about the game, but for when it was release....

❷ ...it was just an adventure recalling the curiosity of a past childhood within me.

❸ No favorite characters, but that's not a bad thing.
