Mafia 2 was great but I preferred the first one even though Vito is one of my fave character in gaming!

almost unplayable...

i got the trilogy, and Mafia 1 was EXCELLENT... so i was really excited for 2 and 3, but they are both awful. terrible controls, terrible graphics, terrible story/dialog. it's like they ACTUALLY remastered mafia 1 because it was so old, and then just re-rendered 2 and 3 or something. i feel cheated.

Mafia 2 tells a story of Vito Scalleta and his rise and fall within the mafia ranks.

The game looks similar to grand theft auto series but it's not open world game although it looks like one. The story is very linear and although you can change the way you approach one mission or the other and can drive around the town freely - in the end you will be bound to proceed to the next mission and the checkpoint.

The story is great. A very Godfather story of mafia - power struggles, assassinations and betrayal. There are no side quests and I would actual consider this a good thing. This way the story is more focused and does not loose your interest in it. The Empire Bay which looks like New York set in the 1940-50s looks amazing and has great feel to it. The soundtrack additionally sets the mood as well.

The game mechanics are on point. The driving feels good, shooting and action is both responsive and enjoyable. The array of weapons is good enough to enjoy. And there's nothing better than picking up tommy gun and shooting other mobsters.

Overall really good experience, wonderful story - really worth picking up.
