Not long after getting our first family PC we got The Sims. I remember waking up early and trying to start the computer quietly (which wasn't easy back then) and boot up Sims just to get lost in the building editor for hours and hours, cuz that was my favourite thing to do. The actual gameplay, the 'people simulator' was fun for a few hours and offered a somewhat limited experience in my opinion, until it was time to sabotage, sacrifice, give it all up and start all over again.

Eventually I found a way to download skins and mods etc, which offered an additional couple of hundred hours of gameplay, easily. Huge game that was loved all over the world when it came out, started a movement and birthed a new generation of gamers. Also, that wonderful music is stuck in my head 'til this day.

The Vanilla Taste

I grew up with The Sims, almost literally. I was barely 7 when it came out on the shelves and I asked my father to please, please, please buyt it for me: my little brain saw the possibility of making houses and exploded, I suppose.

It's a nice time consuming, time management and generically user friendly video game that, sadly, doesn't hold up anymore to the raised standards we've come to expect in 2018. Still, it's quite the nice game to pick up and re-run every once in a while to get that old feeling of having the bare essentials, little to none customization and just the sheer continuous talk of your sims at a volume that was much higher than the OST's one sometimes.

Highlight of the series, for me, was Makin' Magic.

4 stars - I really liked it

Yes, yes. I know what you might be thinking: Basic, old, graphically ugly, very limited. Else you're thinking like I do: Terrific game, a tremendous idea for completely new and original game. Yes, yes. I know what you might be thinking: Basic, old, graphically ugly, very limited. Else you're thinking like I do: Terrific game, a tremendous idea for completely new and original game. Maxis taught us before how to run cities, but they weren't satisfied with that alone. They wanted more, so they gave us a simulator, not only for a city... but also viewed household by household, family by family, Sim by Sim.

How could this not deserve a hands down ovasion?
