Ash of Gods is а multi-genre project that features most of the typical elements of a visual novel, tactical turn-based role-playing game and card strategy. Jeslie's review of Ash of Gods: Redemption

This is one of those games I very much wanted to like. The setting is incredibly detailed, the game brims with choices, there's some interesting characters--in short, it was clearly a labor of love.

The problem for me is that the game was often presented as if I should already be familiar with the lore, and so I rarely felt I understood half of what was going on. I never developed any real investment in the characters or the plot, in no small part because I never felt connected to either. Unfortunately, that lack of investment just made the experience more tedious as it went on. I usually like to replay games, try new options and see if I can gain new understanding of the story, but I'll pass on replaying this one. Hopefully others will be less disappointed. Two stars out of my customary four, and honestly, the setting and potential is carrying a lot of that second star.
