Now, I want to make it clear that I was NEVER a fighter in this game, I was a builder, but my s/o helped me finally progress in the game and beat it completely (and even get some extremely difficult achievements), and everything was so much fun. The bosses were all extremely creative and overall not the BIGGEST pain in the ass to beat, and they all had rlly good music on top of it. This is just a favorite for me in terms of sandbox games that I'm glad I finally got to experience in full. Extremely worth playing if you like sandbox games, and super cool boss battles. (Just expect to do some grinding if you wanna get some items hehe).

With it's great diversity of items, crafting, locations, enemies and events Terraria will make you bored very rarely. Fighting and building are both really enjoyable. Сute pixel graphics are really enjoyable for an eye, i especially like awesome backgrounds and well animated environment (like foliage swaying on the wind). Musics and sound designs are memorable as well. They convey the mood better then many of triple A projects. Day and town music make you feel really comfy and peaceful, while crimson and boss music can be really scary and anxious.
Also this game has an awesome community which made me love this game even more. It makes many good arts, building screenshots, cool maps and mods. Also Terraria players helped me much when i was struggling to get into it.
The most surprising for me is that devs made this game even better with The Last Journey update. It added new difficulty with new rewards for most hardcore players, enemies, items, decorations and much more. I will always prefer Terraria over Minecraft, because it's not just building and it doesn't require any mods to be fun for most of people. Also 2d pixels are much prettier for me.
The only bad thing that comes to my mind about this game is:
Anyway, i recommend this game to every gaming enthusiast, it cost almost nothing, but allowed for a huge number of hours of fun. They didn't sell more than 14 millions copies for nothing!

Terraria is a 2D game in which you gather resources, build houses, craft items and fight monsters. You start out above ground and mine your way down.
The Good
I really wanted to like this game, i even played it for nearly 9 hours. It has a ton of items, a nice variety in enemies and an excellent cheat menu that helps reduce grinding. There's a ton of smaller elements that are all quite nice. For instance, i didn't expect there to be minecart rides and they are nice and quick.
The Bad
The game has a number of problems however. The two main ones are mining and building.
Mining is just too clunky. Your character is 3 'blocks' high and 2 blocks wide. This means you have to mine 3 blocks to move 1 block in distance. This would be okay if you automatically mined everything in your path, but you don't. You have to hover the mouse over a block, hold the button for a second or three then move to the next block. You often get stuck because nearly-destroyed blocks (that are much smaller) are in the way. Or you just can't see where to mine because it's too dark. Keep in mind that most of the game is spent digging around, so this is really bad.
Building is another major flaw. The "walls" are actually wallpaper. The real walls (that keep stuff out) are blocks stacked on top of each other. The game doesn't explain this in any way. Nor does it explain that a door need a block at the bottom, which is really counter-intuitive. Making stairs requires you to place platforms one by one, diagonally, then hitting each one only once with a hammer. The wallpaper-walls and brick-walls also have to be placed one at a time. It's incredibly tedious and you constantly make mistakes. I even had to reduce my mouse speed to be able to build.
Conclusion
Two of the three main mechanics are poorly implemented (combat is fine). Much as i admire this game i just can't enjoy playing it.

I can't think of many games I've had as many late nights with friends as Terraria. Since March 2013, this game has been with me throughout vastly different periods of my life, and with the 1.4 Journey's End update, that adventure finally comes to a close. While it's sad to see the book closed on Terraria, the final state of the game is a masterful entry to the crafting/exploration genre with an absolutely insane amount of content.
Early into Terraria, it is easy to draw comparisons to Minecraft; the game begins with the players chopping trees, mining iron and fighting zombies at night. However, as the game progresses, it quickly unfolds into a unique experience all its own. Throughout a whole run of Terreria, the game continuously surprises with new ways to interact with the world, or by turning previously established parts of the world into something new. Terraria as a world is not comfortable with settling into a fixed condition; instead evolving and changing, frequently reminding the player that the world isn't theirs to control, but is a living being separate to the player.
More than any other crafting/exploration game, Terraria really nails the exploration aspect. There is so much to see and experience in this game; so many areas to visit, items to try and creatures to meet. While the sheer amount of content in the game is staggering, it does have a bit of trouble explaining itself. The game tries to give you resources to find your own way, resources in The Guide - an NPC who explains crafting recipes and gives basic advice, as well as The Bestiary as of the most recent update. Some other NPCs will also deliver cryptic words of wisdom on how to progress. While it is possible for a new player with enough curiosity to make it through the game's progression on their own (and I encourage and new players to go in blind, at least for a while!) it is far more manageable to open up the Terraria Wiki on a smart phone or Steam overlay, and allow it to guide progress. It's not the most elegant design, but is pretty much par for the course in this genre.
While the exploration aspect of the game is impeccable, if a little flawed, the combat is also fantastic. Throughout the progression of Terraria, a player is presented with an absolutely wild array of combat options and playstyles and, especially by late game, the player is given a wild number of movement options to take into combat. It's a good thing too, as Terraria contains enormous boss fights that require serious firepower to take down. At it's best, the game feels like a high energy platformer, combined with a tight bullet-hell, with boss fights representing a close intersection between preparation and skill. That said, especially on Expert of Master mode, the boss fights can get so difficult as to require spending lots of time to build arenas, prepare potions and equipment and research boss tactics, that the fight itself almost feels secondary. In this sense, at times Terraria can almost feel like an MMO more than anything, which could be a good or bad things depending on your perspective.
Overall, this decade's old game is an absolutely legendary entry into the genre. With the game in its final state, my partner and I took a week to fully complete the game, from start to finish on Expert mode. It was an incredible experience to finally see the game to the end (which I've never done before!) and to give the game the honorable send-off it deserved. If, at this point, you still haven't played Terraria, I encourage you to find one or two friends (who preferable also haven't played it!) and give it a shot! If you like boss fights, crafting and exploration, and you don't mind researching convoluted recipes, this game is for you!
Also, it's like, three dollars on sale, what are you doing??

Played during free trial of xbox game pass. I was only going to play it once so decided on the maximum size map. I built my base like a NES Mario fort of simple stone; the ceilings were only high enough for me to fit in and the outside was staggered so I could jump over it either way. I am not big on building things so it was only the bare minimum needed. I played long enough to get to some of the harder areas and a full set of silver gear. I liked the magic staff the most, followed by a snowball cannon. I tried to play it more like a shooter and that would have went much better with the PC version.
I died quite a few times by drowning in the dark until I found a helmet with a light. Mostly I died to enemies and their damn contact damage. Did not help that they keep respawning. After a couple of days playing I got sick of having to run all the way to my death spot and stopped playing.
It is certainly an interesting game but I am not inclined to buy it. The game would be better for me if the enemies did not constantly respawn, and there were actual engineering principles involved in building things (like load bearing supports, material tensile strength and material degradation).

Notice how I didn't say was unbelievable but IS unbelievable.Re-Logic is always coming with new and crazy shit that us gamers would not have thought of for that particular game or maybe we just wouldn't have thought it all.Now yes, true we do make some suggestions sometimes and they do accept those suggestions and make them in the game varying from better options to more items in the game.Lets just take a look at how Terraria starts, The single player sides of things and the Multiplayer side of things.Singleplayer, So many great things I could say about Singleplayer, You will literally NEVER run out of anything to do in Terraria, but we cant deny that the start of the game is usually the BEST part of the game. The reason this being is that we haven't accomplished ANYTHING yet.New world, New character, and same bosses to kill.I find myself whenever playing solo that I can't get off the game until at least 2-3 hours of playing just because I have SOOOOO much to do.Moving on to Multiplayer, I do have to say that there are not MUCH differences from SP to MP besides the fact that you can get shit done twice or three times or four times as fast as usual.Like always though its always more fun to play with your friends on your Console and or PC no matter what game it is.Keep in mind though that I do believe the bosses become easier if you have more people because I do not think they get any harder if you have multiple people so keep that in mind. One thing I DO want to address with this game, and you guys may already know what the BIG difference is from PC to Console but this is usually in most PC games and usually not ever in Console games.Mods, Mods make the game way more fun then before, and I know what your thinking."There is NO WAY the game could get MORE FUN THEN IT ALREADY IS!?" Well it does. With these mods come new things to do in the game such as boss fights and items and NPCs.I would recommend using Mods after you have "completed" Terraria. One last thing I should mention is that Terraria PC is usually a BIG update ahead of console. So be prepared to not be able to use EVERYTHING in the console version all though most updates that come to PC usually come to Console later on like most games, so really patience is the key here.Anyways, my conclusion for this game will be short and Sweet. This game is fucking awesome. It is well worth the price of $20 or if your on steam $10.
