I like being able to drift to essentially enable newtonian physics and freely aim in any direction. There's enough enemy variety to keep things fresh, as you need to change weapons to damage armour and shields.

So far I only got one bossfight, which was ok. It offered a nice change of pace from dogfighting, but it had a very wierd design flaw that meant that you basically needed to die and respawn after each phase. I also like fighting the bigger ships. Flying in and around them destroying their weakpoints and subsystems is cool.

The open world is a knock against the game, though. It's got the usual problem that the big expanses only add a long commute in between missions and random sidequests with all the appeal of weeks-old moldy pizza left forgotten in the back of the fridge. I'm having a much better time beelining to the next main objective each time.

Also, the game feels great to play with gyro. It allows for much more precise aiming.

The gameplay is fine and I like the style well enough, but the story, dialogue and plot is terrible.

Controls are a bit rough, though. You change weapons with the d-pad, which means it's impossible to do while manoeuvring with the left stick. So I remapped them to the face buttons... but then the d-pad activates skills, so that's also …

Controls are a bit rough, though. You change weapons with the d-pad, which means it's impossible to do while manoeuvring with the left stick. So I remapped them to the face buttons... but then the d-pad activates skills, so that's also a pisser. But then I realised that steaminput has action sets with layers! So I bound the right paddle to a "skills" layer that maps the face buttons to the d-pad! So face buttons change weapons and back paddle + face buttons activate skills. It made the game so much better!

I'll ask again. Anyone have any experiences with this? Is it worth the effort? It looks super cool, and it's not really available easily physically, so 11 bucks digitally seems like a good deal, but I'd like to hear some stuff from you guys first. I read a bunch of reviews, but I want first hand accounts.

This is on sale this week. Any input? Thoughts? Experiences? Looks really neat, and can't be bought physically for cheap, if at all, from what I can tell, so digital might be the way to go for this one. Wanna know what you guys have to say.

I think this game is underrated.

I know manin character looks like ME:Andromeda dummies but it also has a solid gameplay experience.

I'm dropping this after 2 hours, too much time spent flying in a straight line to get to very generic dogfights, it's pretty but the environment isn't super interesting either so I don't really see a reason to keep going.

Not so sure about this yet. Most reviews say that it has a weak story and a pointless open world structure but that the combat is solid. I've played a bit so far and I have to say I'm in agreement with the first two criticisms, but I'm not certain I'm sold on the combat. It feels clunky to me, …

I've played a bit so far and I have to say I'm in agreement with the first two criticisms, but I'm not certain I'm sold on the combat. It feels clunky to me, and maybe that improves over time, but it just isn't clicking with me quite yet.
