Finished the main story with 109 strawberries and 2209 deaths. Definitely gonna play the post-game at some point. The game didn't leave as much of an emotional impact on me as it has for other players, but it's still a super fun and well-polished 2D platformer (with godly sound design).

I'm partway through Chapter Four, and I'm honestly not really itching to keep playing. The controls feel really awkward to me... I don't understand why dash is a separate button from jump, my jump feels like half the length it should be, the direction of my dashes feels unpredictable sometimes, pressing triggers to cling to walls feels weird. I'm …

I'm not having a terrible time, but my hands hurt playing this, and the story and characters are too vague so far to be particularly motivating.

A lot of very smart people here have left glowing reviews. Any ideas as to why this isn't connecting for me? Am I missing something obvious? Is there a turning point I'm at the cusp of I should push through?

No. Just no. I may have beaten all B side levels within 12 hours, but Chapter 9 is just way too difficult. There is a HUGE gap in difficulty compared to even the B sides. There are levels that are way too precise like with how it integrates the wavedashing move into this DLC. How this Chapter 9 pushed the boat with its mechanics is absolutely amazing, just as usual with Celeste. I absolutely adore the game. It's one of my favorites, but there is a point where difficulty goes too far and this is no exception.

I cannot believe that I'm making progress. Maybe it is actually possible for me to finish this.

Celeste has grown on me even though I find it difficult (and not in the way that I like). It's oh so rewarding once you finish a stage so I keep playing but looking at the time I spend vs the progress I make is a bit disappointing. Still wish I'm using a proper controller when playing it rather than …

Still wish I'm using a proper controller when playing it rather than my laptop keyboard.

I remember getting a few hearts and beating the core on my first save. Now that I started a new save yesterday, I already got all of the hearts except for crystal heart #7, B- Sides 6, 7, and 8 and I beat the core all within 1 day. I 100% Chapters 1, 2, and 8 and I am also …

This game (or any jumping game) may not be for me. Kinda glad I didn't spend money on it. I can see why people love it though. Don't want to give up just yet (but also not having that much fun tbh).

Got a free copy of Celeste for the PC, and that's just amazing. I was planning to buy a copy on the Switch eShop but I guess I have to buy a Nintendo Switch first :p

Just started this yesterday after having it on my backlog for a long time and finished it today taking about 6.5 hrs. Hearing about the difficulty kinda made me push this game off and thought I'd have to use the assist mode but the difficulty was just right and I didn't need to use it nor did it ever get frustrating. Having played many platformers over the years, I really loved a lot of the designs in Celeste.

Another difficult game I've been putting off is Hollow Knight... Question for others, if I found the challenge of Celeste satisfying, will I enjoy Hollow Knight with its difficulty?

I saw someone called this the darksouls of platforming and that is probably the best way to describe the game. I had to turn on assist mode because it wasn't fun anymore. I greatly appreciate that they have multiple ways to assist the player so the player can adjust the difficulty. If you need just an extra jump, then you can just add the jump. If stamina is your only issue, you can adjust your stamina. It never makes the gamer feel inadequate, but rather puts the level of fun in their hands. Some players love getting their ass kicked and then getting back up and say, "Again! AGAIN!" And others get to a point until they say, "alright screw this." I was at that point, and now I'm back on track!
