Preliminary: Hm, all the niceities of arcade platformer as opposed to microcomputer: responsive controls, shoot+jump, and quality graphics. A bit... uh... unsure about her skirt flying up when falling when she starts as a 4 year old but uh... yea I do like the colors and the "school setting" with the slightly open doors etc. Seems a bit repetitive and redundant already on the 2nd level but there's only 5 levels, then a bonus stage where you get you a husband (heh)... Let's see how this goes.. I mean I do love that this 4 year old girl is walking around shooting, uh, Slimes? and love the way she holds the handgun lol
Look: 8/10
Cute colors, cute setting, mostly interesting or cute enemies tho they get quite repetitive and dull after a while. To see what I mean about the color and setting:
Lol the way you sit when you "duck". I realize that the intentions were not so pure, but I like the idea of this being a wholesome use of a strong female protagonist who wears what she wants and just taking a seat while blasting aliens (alas, I doubt that's the true context...)
Sound: 7/10 Great …

Sound: 7/10 Great between-levels high pitched buildup sound/tune. Otherwise, catchy enough and okay for an 80s arcade game. C64 really took the reins for great videogame music in the mid 80s!
Play: 8/10 Good mid-jump movement, phew, good ol arcade games. It'd be cool if you could shoot why holding onto the jungle gym type things. I think they could've done a lot with that, if you could do more while on the jungle gym, allowing for more level creation creativity. Wait why is there a fire creeping up in the school?! Lol What is the context of this manga... While I like this factor, because I'm all for forgiving mechanics, it's kinda silly that the enemies (at least up through stage 3 so far) seem to try to get in the way of your bullets lol. Not sure what I'm supposed to do about the green guys who spawn enemies, I can't seem to kill them, just avoid them I guess. (Oh I guess if you spam with enough bullets, I chose to duck and spam, eventually it dies and gives you a big green P thing that makes a nice sound effect lol... OHHHH and gives your weapon a power-up! Neat!). The level designs did get a bit more complex on Levels 4 and 5, like it wasn't just as straightforward till you get to a too-far-a-gap. Sometimes you had to go back down and use a trampoline etc. Overall, a forgiving and enjoyable type of gameplay. Now if only you could shoot away the enemy projectiles like in some shooters :-p
Pro-tip: if the gap has like broken/jagged edges, you can't make that jump. Just go the other way ezpz
Another pro-tip: as you saw I learned above, go ahead and focus on killing all the Green Monsters That Spawn Other Monsters things because those power-ups slay! Like, slightly OP, I love the fast bullets power-up, and that wound up being one of the main driving factors for me to keep playing, to see what other power-ups come along. Because for the most part the gameplay gets dull quick, the shooting and enemy mechanics are quite, well, dull and simple. I mean, there is some variety to the enemy mechanics--some shoot at you, some drop down multiple floors, ha--but for the most part kinda the same basic thing
Feel: 8/10 To sum it up, you're a girl (then woman) who ages between stages , always wielding a handgun, who goes up escalators to a top floor--killing odd enemies along the way--and then time your jump to grab on to a blimp that floats you away and then a great high pitched level-up/aging sound effect happens between levels. I didn't try to go for a high score--the gameplay wasn't catching enough and tho I liked the song and look neither was particularly special--instead, I just tried to survive and get to the top floor on each level. Which made for a really darn quick playthrough (I guess after you get married you have a kid and the cycle repeats? So silly lol).
Oooo turns out it's worth trying to go through some of the doors for minigames and power-ups. But I found this out on the last stage ha, and unfortunately was ready to be done. Odd, interesting, mostly cute, and fun for the amount of time it takes to complete once!
Attachment: 7/10 Still, as I went to the final (5th) level, I was loving that high pitched between-levels jingle ha. Gives me a certain feel, like from an 80s movie I can't name right now I think Maid to Order (great film by the way). Anyway, I was a bit hesitant--quite repetitive platformer, doesn't take full advantage of arcade capabilities tho did have a nice look sound and overall gameplay, questionable 4-year-old girl beginning but always like when a femme protagonist is blasting bad guys... Odd mix of feelings on this one, and the fact is, it's short and sweet enough that I was willing to push through the hesitations. The cool power-ups kept me going, to a large degree, plus the shortness, but the power-ups weren't enough for me to replay as the new baby Momoko
Welp at last I'm at the Wedding bonus stage, dressed in wedding gown with platforming elements (no gun anymore) that remind me of Princess Peach in Mario 2. I guess all those years gun-toting and leaping from platform to platform in the strange escalator-filled buildings helped her have more of a jump now as a soon-to-be bride. However, the platforming mechanics oddly felt clunkier or worse in the bonus stage, maybe I just wasn't as used to them as the rest of the game's mechanics. And I was definitely missing my gun :-p (tbh, the final stage does definitely have worse collision masks and jump mechanics than the rest of the game... odd) It seems the goal of the final stage is just to get as many items/points as possible and then get to the other side. I thought maybe we sought the groom :-p
I love their depiction of Jesus in the back :-p Welp at last, Momoko is married as she, uh, apparently always wanted and that's why she was running around burning escalator-filled buildings killing aliens and uh now she has a child with this groom and the cycle of violence continues. Hard to break such cycles after all... As cute as this overall was, some of the questionable elements, coupled with the fact I am not positive that I would replay it when there are so many other good arcade platformers (tho that's a tough playing field cuz the caliber is so high), means it just gets a 3 star/7 for attachment. But maybe if it keeps coming up in my head and I replay it :-p or I learn more about the manga which helps inform some of the oddities in the game, then I will reassess
Completion: Through all 5 unique stages and the bonus stage. Score 477,900 Playtime: ~40 mins
