Dragon Quest Monsters is a turn-based RPG that involves recruiting monsters to fight for you in random encounters. Two recruited monsters can be fused together for a better one and extra monsters can be stored on a farm while not in your party. It was released in Japan for the Game Boy Color before the system was released.

Great monster catcher

Just played through this on my anbernic handheld. I had DWM as a kid and it was my first Dragon Quest game ever and really got me hooked, but the breeding was too complex for me to really understand.

Just played through this on my anbernic handheld. I had DWM as a kid and it was my first Dragon Quest game ever and really got me hooked, but the breeding was too complex for me to really understand.

I really enjoyed playing through it as an adult with a guide (it's a must IMO, just for the monster combinations). My game did have a bug where it kept copying over my monsters that were asleep on the farm which was really frustrating.

Really looking forward to playing more in this series.

Had a friend boldly claim that this is a better Pokemon style game than Pokemon. Finally going to try it and see.

One of the best games I've ever played. The story might be kind of cliché but the gameplay is excellent and very creative. I don't think it compares that much to Pokemon. Played. Was close to end but did not beat? First of these games played. Did like the randomized aspect of the levels.
