Yoshi is a very simple vertical stacking puzzle game. The puzzle pieces appear as various enemies from the Mario series. If you stack like-monsters on top of each other, they disappear from the stack. You can also eliminate a stack by placing two halves of a broken egg shell to create a giant monster egg tower before the egg pieces reunite and disappear the stack.

There is no campaign or unlockables. Just endless puzzle play and earning a new high score as the motivation to keep going. There is a 2-player versus mode if you're feeling competitive.

PURE Puzzle Panic indeed

The box art doesn't like, the game is as pure (read bare-bones) as it can be.

So I can't say that the game is bad, it's just not my cup of tea. The puzzle aspect works but it just seems too simple and repetitive for my taste. After playing a few minutes I was like "I get it, I don't need to play this anymore."

Since the core gameplay concept is sound I think the game could actually be good if it had more depth.

NOTE: I always recommend that people try games themselves, nobody likes like YOU like. ;-)

We got this for my mom when we bought her an NES one year as a Christmas gift (our family LOVES video games, especially the old school stuff). I didn't have a clue what it was about, seeing as it was just the cartridge with no box. I just figured since it had Yoshi in it, it might be fun. …

We got this for my mom when we bought her an NES one year as a Christmas gift (our family LOVES video games, especially the old school stuff). I didn't have a clue what it was about, seeing as it was just the cartridge with no box. I just figured since it had Yoshi in it, it might be fun. Unfortunately it wasn't a platformer like I thought it was, but it's a good little time-waster in the vein of Tetris.
